Although the Teen Mom cameras haven’t been rolling in some time, as the last episode aired last year, major news in that world broke today.
It was sadly revealed that stars Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge have split after nine years together.
“A new chapter. Just me and my girls. ❤️ Taylor and I have decided to go our separate ways, as hard as that is to say publicly, I think it’s important to be honest about where my life is at this moment,” Cory, 35, shared on his Instagram today. “We shared a lot of years, memories, love and most importantly, we have two beautiful daughters ❤️. I’m sorry, Taylor, that things didn’t work out the way we both hoped they would. I know there were times I could’ve been better, and I’m sorry for the ways I let you down.”
“But one thing that will never change is the kind of father I want to be,” he continued. “These three girls are my entire world 🌎, & entering this new chapter, it only makes me want to show up for them even more. I want my girls to always know that regardless of what changes in life, Dad isn’t going anywhere. Always PRESENT !!! This chapter is about them, but it’s also about me doing the work that I need on myself – learning from my mistakes, growing, healing, and becoming the best version of myself I can be.”
Cory noted his “hands are full” with his three girls, but he “wouldn’t have it any other way.”
“I’m so thankful that God has given me this position to be in,” he added. “Being a Girl Dad is what I was put on this earth to do. I’m excited for what the future holds, also scared & nervous as hell. I guess those are all natural emotions though.”
“Just wanted to say thank you to all my family & my boys for being there with me through everything,” Cory concluded. “I’m gonna need my village more now than ever before. I appreciate y’all 💯 Love y’all! New Chapter. Same Dad. ❤️”
Taylor, 32, took to her Instagram Story to post a much more concise message.
“Yes, I left,” she stated. “I was sick of not getting basic respect from the person I was with for 9 years and the father of my two children. I’m sure everyone could tell the last few years. I deserve more than that and I’ll get it. End of story.”
Throughout their relationship, Cory faced many rumors regarding being unfaithful to Taylor. On an episode of Teen Mom: Family Reunion, he finally did cop to it, stating he’d cheated on her early on in their relationship.
To add even more fuel to the fire, on the currently airing season of The Challenge that Cory is on, he admitted to being attracted to and flirting with one of his castmates while Taylor was at home.
The pair, who met while filming MTV’s Ex on the Beach in 2017, share daughters Mila, 6, and Maya, 3.
