Real Housewives of Miami may currently be on pause, but that hasn’t stopped the stars of the show from continuing to make headlines.
While Alexia Nepola, 59, confirmed she’s back with Todd Nepola, 53, last month, Larsa Pippen recently opened up on her relationship with Marcus Jordan.
As fans of the show remember, after a brief split in early 2024, Larsa, 52, and Marcus, 35, officially called it off for good in July 2024.
In a post on her Substack entitled “Why I Dated Marcus Jordan,” Larsa finally told all.
“I get asked this question more than any other. In comments, in DMs, at dinners, by people I’ve just met. ‘Why Marcus?'” she began. “So here it is. The whole thing, in my words.”
While she noted that people assume their relationship “started out of nowhere,” Larsa insisted it did not.
“Marcus and I met three years before we ever dated, at a Nike party,” she shared. “We followed each other on social media and would check in from time to time, the way you do with someone you genuinely like. I even tried setting him up with some of my girlfriends. That’s how far it was from my mind. Dating him? That would be crazy, right? I never even thought about it. Then one day he texted me. He said he wanted to come to Miami and hang out. I said yes, I’m here. It was completely friendly. We started hanging out, and a week later, we started liking each other.”
Larsa explained that her connection to Marcus felt so natural because of the “familiarity principle,” meaning she was drawn to him because he felt familiar, even though he was new to her life.
“I didn’t know Marcus growing up,” she shared. “I’d been around his dad maybe seven times in my entire life. But I knew his world. I married Scottie while he was still playing with Michael, and the conversations Marcus and I had sounded like the ones I’d heard back then. The basketball, the Bulls, the pressure, the lifestyle, all of it. Not many people can relate to that life from the inside. He could. So could I.”
She noted everyone had an opinion about her relationship with Marcus and that she was ridiculed for it.
So when did things start to go south?
“Every relationship gets to the point where the fun has to hold up next to real life,” Larsa wrote. “Ours got there, and I found out he had some vices that I couldn’t handle. I tried so hard to make it work. I was really into him. But the vices were bigger than our relationship, and I knew I had to make a serious decision. I knew I couldn’t survive that lifestyle. It was just a matter of time before something bad happened. So I ended it.”
To get out of her relationship, Larsa shared she asked her agent to get another show for her to do so she could get Marcus to move out.
“I signed up to shoot House of Villains in LA. And when I left, I had my housekeepers pack up all of his belongings from my LA house and my Miami house, and sent everything to him,” she said. “I spent two weeks shooting in LA. By the time I came back, my mind was clearer, and my heart was stronger. It wasn’t dramatic. It was a decision. Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is quietly close the door.”
Even though her relationship is over, Larsa did reflect on some lessons she learned.
“You can really care about someone and still know they’re not good for your life. Both things can be true,” she claimed. “Familiar isn’t always safe. It can feel like home and still not be where you belong. And you don’t need a big fight to end something. You need clarity, and the courage to act on it.”
“I don’t regret it, “Larsa concluded.” I had fun, I learned a lot, and I walked away knowing myself better. That’s a win.”
