Meghan King was spotted spending time with her three children over the weekend after reports claimed they were headed to Tennessee to live with her ex-husband, Jim Edmonds, and his wife, Kortnie O’Connor, full-time.
Following news of the 41-year-old Real Housewives of Orange County alum’s custody loss, it was stated that she would see the kids for a “few weeks” each summer. So, why, despite Jim having full custody, was she able to take them out days ago?
“Jim and Meghan can mutually agree that she can be with the kids,” a source explained to Us Weekly on December 16. “Jim wants it to look like on paper that he has custody full-time but it’s not necessarily sustainable. The kids are with Meghan a lot of the time.”
Another source clarified that the children, including nine-year-old daughter Aspen and seven-year-old twin sons Hayes and Hart, hadn’t yet moved to Tennessee full-time, but that they would be doing so in the coming days.
“They will be with Meghan for a few days around Christmas per their agreement,” the second insider explained. “The reason Meghan has been seen with the kids lately is that Jim was being nice and let her see them before the permanent move.”
In addition to allowing Meghan to take their children to a holiday mart over the weekend, Jim reportedly allowed Meghan to care for them overnight as well.
As RHOC fans will recall, Meghan was said to have temporarily lost custody of her three kids after allegedly giving Hayes unprescribed Ritalin and asking his school staff to do so as well. Following an investigation by Child Protective Services (CPS), Jim was given full custody, and she was allowed supervised visitation.
Although the former couple was due in court earlier this month, they were said to have made an agreement prior to the scheduled hearing.
Following the sharing of the custody news, Meghan posted an odd message on her Instagram Story in which she thanked the universe.
“This morning the universe reminded me that maybe I don’t need to disguise the cracks, maybe instead I can fill them with color and purpose,” Meghan wrote in the caption of a December 12 post.
