Kandi Burruss‘ estranged husband, Todd Tucker, has responded to her claims of squatting.
After the 49-year-old Real Housewives of Atlanta alum accused Todd, 52, of refusing to leave her guest house, and said he hadn’t been paying any of the bills for the home, or for the expenses of their two kids, 10-year-old son Ace and six-year-old daughter Blaze, Todd alleged that Kandi kicked him out of her main home.
In court documents filed by Todd and obtained by TMZ on February 13, Todd admitted he was living in Kandi’s guest house after she “unilaterally removed” him from the main home by having her family get his stuff out of the residence.
Although Todd said that he did not leave the main home voluntarily, he said he also didn’t fight the former RHOA cast member over his exit, even though it was done without his consent. As he explained, he hoped to “preserve peace and stability” between them.
Todd also pointed out that Kandi has been working in New York City while he’s remained in Georgia and been caring for the kids.
As for Kandi’s suggestion that he wasn’t paying a dime for any of the house bills or for the bills for their children, Todd said that before the split, they were both adding money to a joint bank account for their expenses. Then, after their split, Todd alleged that Kandi said she would no longer be using the account, and that she’d pay all the bills herself.
“[Kandi] now attempts to reframe and weaponize this self-created financial arrangement as evidence of financial instability or neglect, while the timing and sequence of events demonstrate otherwise,” he wrote in his court documents.
He went on to say that Kandi was bashing him to distract from her extended and “ongoing physical absence from the” kids and her “reliance on a third-party caregiver.”
According to Todd, he wants to be granted primary legal and physical custody temporarily, until a permanent arrangement can be agreed upon.
Around the time that he filed his response documents, Todd seemingly shaded Kandi’s latest claims against him by sharing a video of himself on his Instagram Story, in which he sang along to Rick Ross’ “Stay Schemin.'”
