Out with Alexis, in with Tokyo. On this episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Tamra‘s party comes to a close, but the trip to Japan has just begun. Although the group is down Carmella, they still manage to have some fun. But when Emily opens up about her marriage, the concern for her future is palpable.
Alexis feels attacked by Heather, but is she just trying to create something that is not there? Heather wants Alexis to understand that going on podcasts and creating more beef does not help their situation. Heather chooses to say goodbye to Alexis, rather than stand there and get called insecure by Alexis.
Upon re-entering the party, Heather fills the ladies in on what went down with Alexis. According to Alexis, she “took Heather to task” (um, okay), and Tamra is mad that no one is getting along at her party. Interesting, considering Tamra is the one who was in charge of the guest list, and what did she THINK would happen?!
After much ado, Alexis does return to the event, and she pulls Heather aside for a moment. Heather believes that Alexis is annoyed because she told Shannon that John heard the crash. Alexis is livid, but Heather is not denying that she said this information. Yet again, Alexis walks away when she can’t handle the heat in the kitchen. Alexis calls Heather delusional, and Shannon suggests that perhaps Alexis keeps leaving and coming back because she wants a storyline.
Regarding Tokyo, it does not seem likely that Carmella will be joining. After all, someone punched a three-hole punch in her birth certificate, making it nearly impossible to get a passport. Carmella’s phobias mixed with her diabetes make it a hard sell for her.
Tamra gives a toast, and she is beyond proud of all that she has built with Eddie and her brand. Right after the speech, Shane makes his grand entrance, finally. Someone’s gotta take care of the kids…
Shannon shares that one night she found Archie having a seizure. Archie will now be receiving anti-seizure medicine, and he needs an MRI. Shannon is unsure if she should even go to Tokyo next week, considering Archie has been her rock throughout all the parts of her life.
Jenn and Emily head to a med spa where Ryan’s daughter works. This gets Emily thinking about Jenn’s wedding plans with Ryan, which have seemingly halted. Jenn explains that right now things are great, and she is just concerned that once they tie the knot, things will fall apart.
Maybe that explains why Jenn is willing to do anything to make her look younger. She lets a doctor lift and poke her face, and then Emily gets in on the action.
Packing for Japan is a whole new ballgame for these women. Turns out that Carmella is not coming on the trip, and this bums out the group. Carmella explains that she is “not in a place to travel” because of her stress and sugar. Also, her ADHD medication was not approved in Japan because she did not give enough notice. The only one who will be happy about this news is Vicki.
When Shannon arrives, she lets the women know that Archie was diagnosed with brain cancer. She is hopeful that they can come up with a treatment plan and promises that if things take a turn for the worse, she is heading back home.
Twelve hours later, they land in Tokyo. Vicki ruins the first two minutes by fake vomiting in only a way Vicki can do, and the ladies finally arrive at the hotel. Jenn and Tamra are sharing a room, which is a sentence I never thought I’d write. Tamra tells Jenn that Emily was really talking about her marriage and that Shane makes her feel really lousy. If Emily is not happy and it continues, something’s gotta give. Jenn wonders if Emily is doing enough when she IS around…
The women head to a prix-fixe dinner, and they share jail stories… well, Shannon and Gina do. Heather calls Tamra’s party “successful” and then retells the story of how Alexis snubbed her. Alexis told Heather they had beef. It started because of a podcast when Alexis called Heather “feckless.” (Feckless is an adjective that means ineffective, incompetent, irresponsible, or lacking strength of character and determination — thanks, dictionary.com.)
Jenn asks Emily about her marriage, and Emily admits they do not sleep in the same room and she does not feel any closeness/desire towards him. Shane’s snarkiness hurts her feelings, and Emily has talked about divorce. Vicki explains that she bailed out of her marriage too soon, and Jenn wonders if Shane is insecure about the way Emily looks these days.
Emily shares that she is indifferent towards Shane, and the ladies let Emily know how much divorce sucks. Gina believes that Shane needs help because he is drowning at home. Heather understands that parents need a break sometimes, and Tamra worries about Emily’s future. After dinner, the group sightsees and goes to a bar for 11 seconds.
The next day, it is clear that Emily and Shane are not on the same page. Gina is excited that the ladies are going to a temple and hopes that this will be just what Emily needs.
Gina acts as the tour guide throughout the temple, directing the women through each step. Gina gets a great fortune, Heather and Jenn want to burn theirs, and Tamra becomes emotional because it hints at things with her estranged daughter. But Vicki’s fortune is the worst of the bunch. When Emily gets a good fortune, she is grateful to the universe for perking up her life a bit. Hopefully, this good fortune will carry on through the rest of her life.
