RHONY Jill Zarin and Bethenny Frankel

Jill Zarin is opening up about the support she received following the death of her husband Bobby Zarin as well as her unexpected reunion with former friend and castmate Bethenny Frankel.

But first, the former Real Housewives of New York City star took to Twitter to defend Bethenny who has been receiving some backlash over some comments she made to Jill during Bobby’s funeral.

On the latest episode of RHONY, Bethenny and Jill shared a hug at Bobby’s funeral and an emotional Jill told Bethenny: “I’m alone now. I don’t know what to do without him. What am I gonna do? I’ve never been alone since I’m 20 years old.”

Bethenny then responded to Jill: “I’m alone, too” before making a joke about there being no “gift bags” at the funeral.

Following the episode, there were a number of tweets and comments from some RHONY fans bashing Bethenny’s behavior and accusing her of being insensitive, citing the fact that being alone due to a divorce is different than being alone due to the death of a spouse. Some also found her joke about the gift bags to be in bad taste. Jill is however defending her former friend.

Jill tweeted, “Don’t be hard on her. Who knows what to say in situation like that? She was trying to make me feel better and never took it as selfish. Her coming meant the world to me and Ally but especially Bobby who was only 10 feet away if you watch the videos the press took.”

And during a recent interview, Jill also opened up all of the support she received from her former RHONY co-stars and celebrities after Bobby died, and coming face-to-face for the first time with Bethenny after years of estrangement. Prior to the funeral, Jill had no idea that Bethenny would be in attendance.

“I didn’t know she was coming to the funeral,” Jill admitted to The Daily Dish Podcast. “I knew that other Housewives were coming. I knew that Luann [de Lesseps] obviously couldn’t make it; she was a little tied up. She came to my apartment a lot; she had seen Bobby a few days before, she came to the hospital. She was an amazing friend.”

Jill continued, “Kelly Bensimon came a lot. Ramona [Singer] came to the hospital quite a few times. Dorinda [Medley] came with John; we were good friends with them as a couple and I knew Dorinda a long time. Sonja [Morgan] was there; I didn’t see her but I know she was there. I had Marla Maples [come]. Marysol [Patton] from Florida. Eric Trump came, he snuck in … I was honored they paid their respects to Bobby. It was a beautiful funeral; I’ll never forget it.”
