Vicki Gunvalson Doesn't Know Why Bravo Reduced Her Role to a "Friend" on RHOC

We’re all wondering why Vicki Gunvalson of The Real Housewives of Orange County got demoted to “friend” for the upcoming season 14 of the show, and according to the Bravo star’s Instagram, so is she.

Back in May, we were given hints that the unthinkable had happened: Vicki Gunvalson, the “OG of the OC”, would take a step down and become a “friend” on The Real Housewives of Orange County. Turns out, the rumors were true. After seeing she wasn’t standing among the RHOC clan in season 14’s promo pic, we all had to face the music — including Vicki.

While Vicki and the other housewives have expressed their feelings about the status change, the RHOC star revealed that she wasn’t exactly sure why producers decided to do this.

In an Instagram post from last weekend, Vicki shared a picture of her fiancé, Steve Lodge. A troubled fan commented, “You were the first housewife? I don’t understand it? Why why why?”, to which Vicki responded, “Time to ask Bravo this question. I can’t seem to get an answer that makes sense either.”

Vicki Gunvalson Doesn't Unserstand Why Bravo Demoted Her

While Vicki may not actually know the real reason behind this casting change, the self-proclaimed “OG of the OC” took to Instagram just after her demotion became public.

“For the past 14 years I’ve opened up my life, my loves, my ups and downs on The Real Housewives of Orange County and I am proud to be the ‘OG of the OC.’ I am back again this season right in the middle of the action, and I hope you have as much fun watching the show as I did living it in front of the cameras.”

But this new role on the RHOC isn’t hindering the housewife’s Bravo-lebrity status. Just a couple of days ago she posted glamorous pictures of her standing on the set of a Bravo commercial alongside The Real Housewives of New York‘s Sonja Morgan and LeeAnne Locken of The Real Housewives of Dallas.

Sure, Vicki’s status and salary may have changed on RHOC, but her cooky antics and newly-filled “love tank” will still likely be waiting for us in season 14.

The Real Housewives of Orange County season 14 premieres on Tuesday, August 6 on Bravo TV.
