After admitting to being concerned about the Bravo series’ future, Tamra revealed what Andy Cohen told her about coming back to the show, dished on her and Vicki Gunvalson‘s potential new show and confirmed which of her former co-stars she’s still friends with.
“[RHOC] has changed so much. It’s so different now [and] we’ve had so many cast members that didn’t work out,” Tamra told Kelly on Kickin’ Back with Kelly on April 1.
According to Tamra, she’s concerned about the show’s future because it’s hard for cast members to get to know newbies, and equally hard for the show’s audience.
“It’s hard for the viewers too. They’re not really invested,” Tamra said of when new people are brought to the series. “That’s my concern for the show right now. There’s a lot of new people on the show. A lot.”
Before the RHOC season 15 cast was established, Tamra informed her producers that she was dealing with a situation that would prevent her from filming a full-time role. As fans now know, Tamra learned her ex-husband, Simon Barney, had been diagnosed with stage three throat cancer last November and since then, she’s been caring for their daughter Sophia around the clock.
After going through what she described as the most difficult moments of her life, Tamra turned down a part-time position on the show and was later told by Andy that she should “take the year off.”
“If you change your mind about it, you can film. If you don’t want to, you don’t have to. And then next year, you can come back full-time,” he said according to Tamra.
While Tamra admitted she doesn’t have anything in writing in regard to her potential RHOC return, she made it clear that her days on television are far from over.
“Vicki and I have been approached to do a [reality] show together… on another network. It’s a great concept. I’m also talking to someone about doing a renovation show. To me, that is a dream job,” she shared.
As for making a cameo on RHOC season 15, Tamra said, “I can’t say I will or I won’t” before revealing that she misses spending time with her former co-stars.
“Now that they are filming, I don’t get to see them as often. [Gina Kirschenheiter] and I would play tennis once a week. [Shannon Beador]’s about 30 minutes from me. I haven’t even seen her new house yet,” Tamra confessed. “In a small way, [I] miss them all. As dysfunctional as we were as friends and the way we called each other out and stuff, we were still friends.”
“Friends that I’ve kept would definitely be Shannon and Gina and Vicki,” Tamra continued. “I don’t really talk to [Emily Simpson]. I’ve never had a close relationship with her and [Kelly Dodd], no, we ended on a bad note. I don’t hate the girl, we’re just different.
