Just weeks after the former Real Housewives of Orange County cast member’s daughter, Kara Keough-Bosworth, tragically lost her son during childbirth, the Keough family was dealt with another devastating loss and opened up about the passing of Matt on their social media pages as Jeana’s ex-co-stars reacted to the news.
In a post shared by Jeana on Sunday, May 3, Matt was seen in his Oakland Athletics jersey.
Throughout his nine-year career as a pitcher, which began in 1977, Matt played for the Oakland Athletics, the New York Yankees, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Chicago Cubs, and the Houston Astros.
One day before Jeana’s captionless post, Kara shared a series of photographs of herself and her father.
“Daddy, please take care of my son. Teach him the circle changeup and how to find forever friends. You’re on grandpa duty in heaven now. Xoxo, Hammerhead,” she wrote.
Around the same time, Jeana’s son, Shane Keough, shared several photos of his own.
“My favorite place was always on your shoulders. It makes me smile knowing McCoy will be there with you; right there on your shoulders. It wasn’t always perfect but I wouldn’t change it for the world. You taught me more than you’ll ever know and I hope that I make you proud. Kick back and enjoy the eternal sunshine. Till I see you again – I love dad,” he wrote.
One day later, Shane returned to his page with a second tribute.
“Life is perfect until it isn’t and then we work to make it perfect again. Thank you showing me everyday that perfect is always the goal but it isn’t the only option and that sometimes the s**t hitting the fan can be the best thing to ever happen to you. We succeed every second of everyday; it’s just about whether we want to see those moments or not. Thank you for showing me all the many ways a life can go and preparing me yet again, for mine. Keeping smile it off and enjoy your new club among the clouds. Take it easy.”
Following the family’s posts, Jeana’s former co-stars reacted to the upsetting news in the comments section of her photo of Matt.
“Rest In Peace Matt,” Vicki Gunvalson wrote.
“I’m so incredibly sorry to hear about this. Sending love and prayer your way for your heart right now. I’m here if there’s anything you need,” Jo de la Rosa shared.
“I’m so sorry for your loss,” said Tamra Judge. “Big hugs and prayers.”
Jeana appeared on the first five seasons of The Real Housewives of Orange County in a full-time position and has been seen in cameo roles on a number of occasions in the years since.
