Details about Ramona Singer‘s brother are resurfacing after the star mentioned his “self-destructive” behavior during the latest episode of the Real Housewives of New York City.

On the July 20 episode, the women gathered for a seance in Salem, Massachusetts, and Ramona was shocked by who the medium conjured up. She was seemingly expecting her father to come through, but when her late brother, Bohdan Mazur, showed up instead, Ramona became very emotional.

The 64-year-old shared that she and her brother, who she called a “lost soul,” were very close in age, but they had been estranged due to his “self-destructive” behavior.

According to Extra per Showbiz Cheat Sheet, Bohdan died in 2017 at the age of 59 after suffering a heart attack while driving, which caused him to strike a tree. He was reportedly on the way to a hospital when the accident occurred.

Following the heartbreaking accident, Ramona spoke with US Weekly about her loss.

“No one knows this. He died about three weeks ago, my younger brother, and we weren’t close anymore,” she told the outlet at the time before revealing Bohdan’s death led to a bond with her niece.

“I flew her out… for about a week. And I spoke to her and said that I was really sorry about her dad’s death,  but if it wasn’t for his death, you wouldn’t have bonded with [my daughter] Avery [Singer] and I. So we have this whole new relationship we never had,” she shared.

As for her brother’s alleged “destructive” behavior, as it turns out, Bohdan admitted in 2014 that he sold drugs. In fact, he wrote a book about his life as a drug dealer, telling Radar Online at the time that his and Ramona’s father encouraged him to take part in the dangerous activity.

“I took it to heart. I’m not sure how much of [my father’s] advice I was supposed to take literally, but I made sure to put some of it to good use,” he told the outlet three years before his death. “When I told my father how much I could make, he was impressed. He was my greatest advocate.”

Bohdan claimed he was making as much as $10,000 a week selling illegal drugs, but his world came crashing down once he became addicted to cocaine.

“A small bump of cocaine is addicting,” he shared. “That’s why it’s so easy to sell. Once you try it, you need more of it. I regret trying it… it made me paranoid.”

He also mentioned how the drug affected his heart, stating, “I did so much coke, I would hear my heart valves squishing.”

Bohdan reportedly spent years in prison after he was busted, which caused him to lose his wife, children, and his relationship with Ramona, who he had not spoken to in two years at the time of his Radar Online interview.

The seance hopefully gave Ramona some peace of mind as the medium claimed Bohdan is at peace with his death, and he’s sorry for hurting his sister.

The Real Housewives of New York City season 13 airs Tuesday nights on Bravo at 9/8c.
