In March 2021, Southern Charm’s Kathryn Dennis lost custody of her two children after ex Thomas Ravenel allegedly accused her of having drugs around their kids. The accusation, however, is murky in the eyes of many fans who believe that Thomas — a wealthy socialite with several political connections — used his money and power to manipulate the system.
According to Radar, after the judge’s ruling, the mother-of-two can only see her children in supervised visitation. One of the key pieces of evidence was allegedly a small detection of marijuana in her urine test.
In a now-deleted tweet, Thomas took a swing at Bravo, the network of his former show, which often alludes to their custody battle.
“If I lost all custody of my kids, all the Bravo controlled media would be talking about what a horrible father I am,” wrote the 60-year-old.
“Instead, as I have full custody, the narrative is that I’ve bought off the system and Family Court is corrupt,” he continued, declaring, “I think Bravo is corrupt.”
According to Page Six, Thomas accused Kathryn and Chleb Ravenell, her then-boyfriend, of using cocaine and leaving it within the children’s grasp. Though Chleb Ravenell and Thomas Ravenel are not related, castmate Craig Conover alleged that Chleb’s ancestors were enslaved by the wealthy ancestors of Thomas.
The former politician, who is 30 years older than Kathryn, allegedly took the kids and moved to a different city just months after winning the custody battle. Some viewers have accused Thomas of using the court system to achieve this.
These fans also find it strange that Kathryn was stripped of custody after allegedly testing positive for marijuana, which is legal medicinally in the vast majority of the country.
