Kathy Hilton‘s daughter, Nicky Rothschild, formerly Nicky Hilton, isn’t happy with the evolution of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
While attending the 2022 God’s Love We Deliver 16th Annual Golden Heart Awards over the weekend, Nicky spoke of the changes she’s seen in the focus of the show amid her mother’s messy feud with Lisa Rinna, which led to a near-estrangement between Kathy and Nicky’s aunt, Kyle Richards.
“I used to love the light-heartedness and escapism of the program,” she told E! News on October 16. “But I feel like, recently, it’s become a bit mean-spirited and negative.”
According to Nicky, she used to tune into RHOBH to be uplifted.
“When I watch one of those shows, I want to laugh. I don’t want to be sad. So, hopefully, they could be a little kinder,” she added of her hopes for the cast’s future.
Nicky’s comments come just over a week after an insider told PEOPLE that she and her older sister, Paris Hilton, had been forced to intervene amid Kathy and Kyle’s “complicated” feud, which was prompted by Lisa Rinna’s claims of ill statements Kathy made against Kyle in Aspen, for the “first time.”
“They all grew up together. Kyle acted as a spokesperson for the Hilton family for a long time. They always make up, but this is a little different because Kathy is front and center on camera,” the source revealed. “She hasn’t been forced to be vulnerable. Kathy and Kyle have spoken loosely via text only since the reunion.”
“They cannot reconcile, and it’s all so complicated because nobody’s backing down,” the insider continued. “Kyle has backed up her sister for years and no matter what she does, Kathy isn’t satisfied. What we’re watching is years of family trauma that hasn’t been dealt with in a family dynamic.”
Although the tension between Kathy and Kyle is expected to boil over as the RHOBH reunion continues, Kyle recently said she was hoping for a reconciliation.
“We’re a family and we’ll always come back together,” she previously told E! News. “I don’t think people realize how much it affects my family and the relationships, and I have been holding that in for so long, and that’s why I felt so emotional.”
