Filming for season 15 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta has just begun, and according to the cast, the drama has already started to unfold. Currently at the center of the drama is Sheree Whitfield’s new romance with Love and Marriage: Huntsville personality Martell Holt.
Sheree and Martell first went public back in July, and according to Sheree, things are progressing nicely, though she’s taking it slow.
“I am having a good time. I’m just, you know, we enjoy each other. I’m dating and I don’t take anything too [seriously] right now,” the She by Sheree designer told Us Weekly. “I just got out of a relationship, so I’m just kind of taking things one day at a time.”
However, some of Sheree’s fellow RHOA castmates aren’t finding Martell quite as enjoyable and have started questioning the validity of their relationship.
Kenya Moore recently shaded Sheree’s judgment when it came to choosing a good partner, noting that she only wishes the best for her friend.
“I want Sheree to be happy. I want her to pick better. I think she’s a good pick, but I don’t think she’s [got] a good picker,” Kenya said. Sheree was previously linked to ex-con Tyrone Gilliams throughout season 14 before Sheree ultimately called it quits after he infamously stood her up.
Sheree responded to Kenya’s critique, explaining that Kenya doesn’t have the right to judge Martell as the two don’t even know one another. She also brought Kandi Burruss’ husband Todd Tucker into the equation, using his rocky start with the group as an example that first impressions aren’t always accurate.
“[It’s] so funny because they don’t know him,” Sheree told the outlet. “But, I mean, no one was a big fan of Todd when he first came on.”
“I’m in a good place. And it’s so funny that Kenya [disapproves of Martell] because every time she would text me or I would talk to her, she’s asking about him. So then to get where she is now, and some things that happen is kind of crazy to me, but hopefully everything can be worked out,” Sheree continued.
Drew Sidora also had some questions about Martell and is eager to see how the relationship unfolds as Drew and her husband, Ralph Pittman Jr., both have “connections” to Martell that precede his romance with Sheree.
“I have not met him, so we’ll see. I mean, I know of him. I’m actually friends with his ex-wife, so I don’t know what that’s gonna be like,” Drew explained to Us at BravoCon. “You know, Ralph and Martell actually talk. They were friends before, so this is gonna be a lot of connections. It’s gonna be a lot. I feel like this season, it’s already a lot!”
In contrast, Sanya Richards-Ross, who is embarking on her sophomore season of RHOA, believes that Sheree and Martell’s relationship is “real,” and she “actually likes them together.”
“I know that there’s a lot going on. And of course, you know, we all know a lot about Martell’ [because] he was on television as well. But when I’m with them, it feels very real. It feels like there’s a lot of, like, I know she’s just having fun. She’s like, ‘Listen, I’m not looking for a husband,’ but I like their energy together,” she remarked.
As for what viewers can expect out of season 15, Kandi said that it starts off with a “bang.” Kenya then reiterated the sentiment, calling the new season “crazy.”
“It’s been a little crazy,” Kenya exclaimed. “[We just finished our] first week [and there’s] lots of action. You know, the thing about Atlanta, don’t ever count us out. Our ratings are up. We’re doing well, and I think that it’s gonna be a really exciting season.”
