For many years, Melissa Gorga refuted her sister-in-law Teresa Giudice’s claim she was blindsided by Melissa joining the Real Housewives of New Jersey.
There was also speculation Teresa excluded her brother Joe and his wife Melissa from cast events, fearing producers would be interested in signing them.
However, in an interview for Heather McDonald‘s The Juicy Scoop, former RHONJ producer Carlos King confirmed Teresa’s story. The employee claimed Melissa joined the show behind her sister-in-law’s back, and suggested Melissa’s narrative was “not true.”
According to Carlos, Teresa called him “a week” before Melissa started filming.
“She had no idea,” said Carlos. “This is a week before filming was supposed to commence [at Joey Gorga‘s christening].”
The producer added, “She said, ‘Oh my gosh, I just learned that my sister-in-law and my brother are cast members on this show. I did not know that until now.’ She had no idea.”
He then explained, “She [was] freaking out, ‘What should I do? … I don’t know Carlos, this is crazy. That’s my family. I don’t want to fight with my family.'”
Carlos continued, “She found out because they finally revealed to her — not ‘they’ the producers — that, ‘your sister-in-law and brother are on the show. You have to go to this [christening].'”
He then debunked the myth that Teresa prevented Melissa from cast events before she joined the show in season three.
“I met Melissa season two … at [a different] christening,” said Carlos. “So this rumor that they weren’t invited to things, I can say to you face-to-face I met Melissa face-to-face [at the cast event].”
If Carlos’ account is true, it contradicts the narrative Melissa’s been pushing for a decade. Recently, at a BravoCon interview shared by All About TRH on Instagram, Melissa was reportedly asked if Teresa was unaware about her casting.
“100 percent false and untrue,” said Melissa.
