Katie Maloney clapped back as fans called out her reaction to the “traumatic” mid-season trailer of Vanderpump Rules. In the trailer, the pain and anger of her friend Ariana Madix was revealed amid her discovery of boyfriend Tom Sandoval‘s reported affair with castmate Raquel Leviss.
In one scene, Ariana is screaming in hurt, and she later tells Sandoval she wants him to “die.” The reported affair is shocking to fans since Ariana befriended Raquel during a time of need. Amid the drama, Katie is dealing with her own breakup with ex-husband Tom Schwartz.
In a BravoTV video, shared by @commentsbybravo on Instagram, Katie revealed her reactions to the mid-season trailer.
“So I watched the mid-season trailer like 40 times,” said Katie. “It’s insane. I was there and I’m like shook. Cause you guys, the rest of the season is so good.”
In the comments, fans called out Katie for describing the painful season in a positive way.
“‘The rest of the season is so good?'” wrote @kellymcmom9. “[Katie] seeing your friend go through something traumatic is good…? …Entertaining? Sad.”
The 36-year-old clapped back, “@kellymcmom9 if anyone had a traumatic ‘rest of the season’ it’s me.”
She then added, “You have to remember the scandoval stuff just happened. Our season filmed over the summer. But I can objectively say it’s a great season.”
Many fans believe Katie’s comment was callous, and it diminished the pain Ariana is experiencing in the wake of her public breakup.
