The cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills recently wrapped filming for season 13 with Kyle Richards’ annual White Party, but did fan-favorite “friend of” Kathy Hilton make an appearance?
RHOBH star Sutton Stracke is spilling the details on what to expect out of the upcoming season as well as Kathy’s filming status.
While hosting a Pride Celebration at her Beverly Hills boutique, Sutton Concept, Sutton revealed that Kathy did not film any scenes with her former co-stars, but she noted that the show was just as “hunky dory” without her.
“Was Kathy missed on the show? Yes,” Sutton told Page Six. “But is there a void on the show because Kathy’s not there? No. There’s still comical moments. It’s still a great show…but I missed Kathy.”
Kathy herself confirmed her absence on Monday, June 5, to E! News. She explained her decision not to film for the Bravo series wasn’t because she was persona non grata, but rather because she was too busy filming season two of daughter Paris Hilton’s Peacock reality show, Paris in Love.
“I’m doing Paris in Love,” she told the outlet. “But I know [RHOBH] is going to be great. It’s always interesting and fun and lots of drama.”
A source close to Kathy did note that a return for Kathy wasn’t completely out of the question, telling the outlet, “She’s open to coming back.”
What would it take, though? Kathy has previously stated that she would not return if the cast were the same as season 12, which saw the socialite come under fire after having an alleged psychotic “meltdown” during a cast trip to Aspen spearheaded by then-cast member Lisa Rinna. The drama ended up driving a wedge between Kathy and her sister, Kyle, and they are still trying to mend their fractured relationship.
Lisa has since departed the show, but her BFF Erika Jayne, who is still a full-time cast member, is reportedly still on the outs with Kathy over the last season’s drama. There’s no word on if that played a role in Kathy’s decision to step back from season 13.
Though Kathy will not be appearing on the new season of RHOBH, Sutton explained that she and Kathy are still great friends and see each other frequently outside of filming.
“She’s great, she’s busy,” Sutton said of Kathy, before adding they “don’t talk about the show” when they’re together. “Kathy and I have more in our lives that we have going on together than the show, so we don’t need to talk about it.”
As for what fans can expect out of the next of RHOBH, Sutton says it’s full of “fast-paced” drama as the cast “aired out” all their “problems with one another.” The Georgia native also teased a brewing feud between her and Kyle, noting that the pair “got into it a little bit.”
“I think that all of us have our differences and I think that we all aired our problems with one another. So, if Kyle and I had problems with one another from the past, it got aired,” Sutton confessed. “But it’s not solely myself and Kyle, it’s all of us. We all worked our differences out with one another.”
Also, RHOBH fans will remember that Sutton and her friend-turned-enemy-turned-friend again Erika have historically had a rocky relationship over the past few seasons of the show. Sutton revealed how she feels about her fellow Georgian today.
“Erika and I always do our thing. It’s the Erika and Sutton thing. I, myself, don’t understand it, but … I have a different relationship with Erika than I do with any of the other girls,” Sutton explained. “We understand each other on a different level, I think, than any of the other ladies, so it’s always exciting and compelling to see what’s going to happen between us.”
While celebrating Pride Month, Sutton was recently joined by her best friend and co-star, Garcelle Beauvais, for West Hollywood’s annual WeHo Pride Parade. Both Sutton and Garcelle are staunch supporters and proponents of equality and gay rights.
“Not to be political, but I will be a little bit because what I’ve seen in Florida is worrisome,” Sutton said, in reference to Governor Ron DeSantis’ notorious “Don’t Say Gay” law and his support of more bills harmful to the LGBTQIA+ community.
“I just don’t want to see the trend continue and the more we show support, the stronger the voices are. We can’t go backwards, we can only go forwards,” she concluded. “I just want the community to know that they have a strong ally.”
Sutton will be joined by co-stars Kyle, Erika, Garcelle, Crystal Kung Minkoff, Dorit Kemsley, and newcomer Annemarie Wiley for the upcoming season of RHOBH.
Season 13 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is expected to air sometime later this year.
