Kyle Richards opened up about the buzz surrounding her relationship with Mauricio Umansky, and the possibility that they were back together, after last week’s episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
As her castmates shared their thoughts about the post-split dynamic between Kyle, 57, and Mau, 55, and reacted to reconciliation rumors, Kyle confirmed that she and Mau were definitely not back on as she addressed the lingering issues in their marriage and admitted that a recent family trip told her everything she needed to know about where they stood.
“Why am I always having to explain this and address stuff with me, stuff with Mau, tabloids? Why haven’t I filed? Why haven’t I gotten a lawyer? We’re not fighting. We don’t live together. We’re living separate lives, and we’re doing what works for us,” Kyle began on the January 29 episode of the RHOBH: After Show.
While a rumor last month suggested that Kyle and Mau were “touchy” at a New Year’s Eve bash, Kyle denied that was the case, saying that “somebody made that story up.”
“Rachel Zoe was there. You can ask Rachel,” she stated.
And Rachel, 54, confirmed, “I was with them, and that is a false statement. They are not together. They were both in Aspen for the holiday.”
Dorit Kemsley, 49, also pointed out that Kyle and Mauricio being together over the holidays was nothing new.
“That’s what they do. They have a house,” she explained.
Sharing what actually happened in Aspen, Kyle said that she and Mauricio attended a nice holiday party with their daughters.
“I was with my girls most of the night. Mau was off doing his thing. We get along. When it struck midnight, it was actually [my daughter Farrah Aldjufrie], Mau, and we all gave like a group hug. That was pretty much it,” she revealed. “Mau was definitely very booked up, looking around.”
“And you’re so comfortable with that,” Sutton Stracke, 54, confirmed before being corrected by her castmate.
“I’m not,” Kyle clarified. “It is weird. In a tabloid, I have a choice. It’s different. Seeing this in person is very different. So when I read that story, I was like, there’s no way.”
After Kyle said she had “theories” about who may have made up the story, Jennifer Tilly, 67, noted that a lot of people would love to see Kyle and Mauricio give their relationship another chance.
“After I met Mau, I was like, yes, team Mau … I think they’re cute together,” Bozoma “Boz” Saint John, 49, shared.
“I really like Mau. He’s friendly. He’s great. I think if they can be friends now, that’s great,” Rachel added.
Meanwhile, Erika Jayne, 54, said she believed Kyle had “moved on.” And, from the sound of things, she had.
“I don’t feel seen or heard [by Mauricio] … [And] that doesn’t make me feel good,” Kyle admitted. “You wouldn’t want to even have a friend who, if you feel like you’re talking and, you know, they’re not paying attention.”
According to Kyle, she left Aspen feeling that she wouldn’t be rushing to do another family trip with her estranged husband.
“I don’t need to have that rubbed in my face. I told him that to his face. I said to him … when I’m with him, and I go to talk, I shut down. Like, I find myself not wanting to put myself out and try to talk because I feel stupid and I don’t want to feel like that,” she shared. “I told him, and then he apologized, and he said, ‘I’m so sorry I made you feel that way, and the girls have also pointed that out.’ He said, ‘You’re amazing, and you deserve the utmost respect, and I always tell everybody how amazing you are. If I’ve ever made you feel like that, I’m sorry, I don’t mean to.’ And I said, ‘I don’t think you mean to, and I don’t think you do it on purpose. I just think that that’s who you are right now.’”
While Kyle went on to acknowledge that she can’t predict the future, she said that she didn’t feel that a reconciliation was possible as she spoke of their impending discussions about divorce.
“I don’t feel that at all. I know now what I need to do. We’re supposed to have a big talk, and we never do. We always avoid it. We’re not great at communicating, and he said, ‘We should finally have that talk,’ and I said, ‘I think this trip told me everything I need to know. I don’t feel the need to have a big talk.’ So that’s where I’m at,” she detailed. “He said, ‘Well, don’t make any rash emotional decisions if something’s bothering you.’ I’m like, it’s been a while. So I don’t know what’s gonna happen next … I’m not happy with the way things went on [that] trip.”
“I don’t think [I could go back down that path],” she added.
