Ally Lewber reacted to the news that James Kennedy is allegedly expecting his first child during an interview on Wednesday.
As she also reflected on her messy split from the Vanderpump Rules cast member, shared her thoughts on dating, and revealed her ties to the Southern Hospitality cast, Ally, 30, addressed her role on Netflix’s Perfect Match, commented on the Summer House scandal, and admitted that she wasn’t aware that James, 34, was in a relationship.
“Shocked. I didn’t know he had a girlfriend. Well, I was shocked originally, but not really at the same time,” Ally shared during a May 13 interview with Tudum by Netflix. “We know he moves quickly, and he always wanted to be a dad. That was always a thing with us. He was so ready for all of that stuff yesterday, and I’m still not ready. We haven’t talked, so I just hope he’s happy and healthy, and I wish them the best.”
While Ally noted that she wished James and his mystery woman “the best,” she described their breakup, which came after James was arrested for domestic violence, as “a heavy one.”
“I’ve gone through breakups before, but it was really heavy,” she explained. “I was not interested at all in dating. I was really just healing and hanging out with my friends. I didn’t date after James … I was not ready to open myself up in that way.”
According to Ally, she and James haven’t spoken since their split. However, according to Joe Bradley, 29, who she saw at Coachella with Maddi Reese, 28, James has mentioned her.
“Joe told me the next day, ‘Yeah, James came up and had some things to say about you moving to Charleston.’ So it’s still James just being James,” she shared. “But yeah, I have not [spoken with him]. I do still have some mutual friends with him, and even they were shocked by the news, so it sounds like he’s pretty low-key these days.”
After moving to Charleston in January for a “fresh start,” Ally landed a role on Perfect Match, which was quite a different experience from Pump Rules.
“I was just James’ girlfriend on Vanderpump, so the stakes were not as high for me … There was security in the fact that I could just remind myself, ‘Okay, I’m here to support James. This is James’ job, and I’m his girlfriend, and I’m having fun,'” she reasoned.
Meanwhile, filming Perfect Match came with pressure and “without a safety blanket.”
“That was scary for sure. But I went in being like, “Okay, I want to talk to everyone. I want to give everyone a fair chance,'” she revealed.
Then speaking of the Summer House scandal, which saw the reveal of a romance between Amanda Batula, 34, and West Wilson, 31, Ally said she was “shocked.”
“I feel for [Ciara Miller]. I also feel for Amanda in a way. It is crazy just how big of a deal it all feels, and I watch the news every day, so I’m not shocked by much. Ciara will be fine. It’s like what I said to [Ariana Madix]: ‘It’s a blessing, and it’s the best thing ultimately,'” she stated.
