Summer House Finale Recap: Kyle Cries as Amanda Asks for Time Apart, Ciara and West Make Out; Plus Ciara Tells Amanda “I Love You” and Supports Her Amid Marriage Issues; as Lindsay and Carl Have Emotional Talk Over Past Split

It’s the season finale of Summer House, but it seems like there is so much more to come.  Saying goodbye is always hard at the end of the summer, but this crew is forced to realize that all their actions this summer may follow them into the fall.

As Ciara and West get closer and closer, boundaries are blurred and it’s unclear what they are.  Kyle struggles to get Amanda‘s attention after messing up the last weekend at the house, but after a pep talk from Mia and Ciara, Amanda is finally ready to put her big girl pants on…

The Apres-Ski party is well underway and the place is popping off. Everyone seems to be in a good mood and Kyle admits that this may be Ciara’s best party yet. Ciara seems like she is “screaming fun” this summer, but she takes a sec to see if Kyle processed what they discussed about a potential separation with Amanda.

Kyle does not feel like anyone hears him any more and that his life “is literally being blown apart at the seams.” Ciara reminds Kyle that his words do hold weight and people get caught in the crossfire, making it hard to be Kyle’s friend.  At the end of the day, everyone is trying to support Kyle and Amanda and it’s time that they seek happiness, whatever that may mean, so Ciara suggests that Kyle apologize to Amanda about last night before anything else.

Lindsay shares that she has buried a lot of things down after the break up with Carl and the awkward run-in with his mom, Sharon, at Soft Bar reminded her that she needs some closure. She pulls Carl aside and Carl thanks Lindsay for de-escalating the fight with Kyle the night before.

Lindsay explains that his mom was asking her for “a bunch of hugs” and asked a “bunch of questions about Gemma.”  She states she felt rattled by all of it and it seemed like Carl’s mom glossed over everything that happened post break-up.

When his mom celebrated the break-up two months later in Mexico, it was like a slap in the face for Lindsay.  But what really hurt was that Carl never sat her down to talk about everything falling apart two months before their wedding.

Lindsay thought their friendship went beyond the tv show and wonders why Carl did not come to her about getting cold feet. Carl realizes that he should be apologizing and he becomes emotional as he tells Lindsay that she really guided him through a difficult time in his life.  She made him a better person and Carl thanks Lindsay for that.

In the meantime, Amanda claims she does not want to ignore her issues with Kyle, but she just does not want to argue with him any more. The only thing that has changed is her reaction to his actions.

Sabrina calls Ciara the “biggest blessing” and Ciara explains that Sabrina taught her it’s ok to wear your heart on your sleeve. However, West is concerned that Sabrina may try to push along the relationship between him and Ciara.

West tells Ben that dating Ciara casually got messy, but their natural chemistry is so easy. It’s hard to “ignore the sexual tension” and all West wanted to do was “jump her bones” the night before, but he did not want to portray he is a boyfriend.  The last thing he wants is Ciara’s heart broken. (Ugh, too late for that!)

Amanda requests that all the people in the house jump in the pool for old times sake, but she is clearly dodging Kyle. Kyle understands he ruined the last weekend of the summer and worries that he just gave Amanda everything she needs to walk out the door after the way he behaved.

Amanda claims she is “being silly” because she does not want to realize the gravity of the situation with Kyle.  She tells Ciara and Mia that she appreciates their friendship because they say out loud what Amanda thinks. Amanda fears that she is “not enough” for anyone else and of course Ciara hypes Amanda up like the great friend that she is.

Ciara gives Amanda some tough love.  The kid gloves are off because Ciara is tired of Amanda letting “life happen to her.”  She tells Ciara that she needs to tell Kyle that she is serious about leaving. Ciara explains that Amanda is young, can get a divorce, and start a new life. It’s time for Amanda “to put her big girl pants on.”

Kyle gets hyped to go talk to Amanda, but she interrupts him and instead prefers to jump in the pool, promising Kyle they will address their issues tomorrow.  Kyle tearfully explains that it has been ten years and the severity of his actions have really ruined things. Kyle does not want what they have to disappear.

Post pool dip, the group preps to go out, well everyone except Lindsay, Bailey, and Levi. They start the night at 12:18 am and arrive back home around 2 am.  But around 5 am, the real action starts.  Ciara and West start making out late-night around the fire while Ben and Sabrina look on.  WTF. But Ciara manages to escape the grasp of West before bed, leaving Jesse confused as hell as he looks on at what is transpiring.

Ciara and West kiss on the Summer House finale episode

The next morning when Kyle tries to roll over and kiss Amanda, all she replies is “nope.” The crew tries to clean up the mess they made the night before and Ciara admits to Mia that she kissed West.  West states that he is yet to have a conversation with Ciara because right now things are fun, but Ciara is not trying to get in the same situation as last time.  West claims he is “confused” about hitting Ciara up in the fall and realizes that he can only do that if he is 110% into the relationship.

Ciara claims she has rarely made the same mistake twice. Mia understands why Ciara likes West, but she still hates what he did to her. Mia states, “Mrs. Doubtfire better behave.”  Dead.

Carl orders breakfast for the group and they all sit around to enjoy the last meal of the summer. Lindsay jumps in to say how great of a summer she had and points out how many relationships have formed in the last few months.  Carl requests a group hug (of course), but instead they huddle up with their hands and yell family.

Bailey is thrilled that Carl restored her faith in men and heads out, as Amanda waits impatiently for Kyle to pack his stuff up, but accepts a tight embrace from West.  Ciara and Amanda tearfully hug it out and Ciara tells Amanda “I love you,” and that she is proud of her, that she is special, and that her voice matters. Amanda replies to Ciara, “I love you so much.” Sheesh. Cue the tears, especially knowing what we know now.

Ciara also hugs West goodbye and tells him that she loves him.  Mia warns West that he better take care of her girl and everyone is just a big lump of emotions.  Truthfully, I think Amanda is crying the most because she is stuck alone with Kyle, which forces her to have THE talk.

Kyle looks like he knows this is going to end badly and tells Amanda that he feels sick to his stomach. The idea of them needing some time apart has been lurking in the back of Kyle’s mind all weekend.  Amanda states that Ciara brought it up to her too, but Amanda felt like things were moving in the right direction. The FU and the way he almost fought Carl scares Amanda and she wonders if this is what forever will look like for them.

Kyle feels like he let everyone down and Amanda explains that she grew up in this house.  As a couple, they have been through so much together and while it has been amazing, it has also been really hard. Amanda wants to close the chapter and start over, whatever that looks like for them. Something has to be different, according to Amanda, and she says that she thinks they just need some time apart right now.

Amanda states that something is “fundamentally wrong in their relationship and it needs to change” and so she will be staying a couple nights in a hotel.

“I just feel like we just need some time apart right now. I’m gonna stay a couple of nights in a hotel because something is fundamentally wrong in our relationship and it needs to change,” said Amanda to Kyle. “And this is me trying to start that. We need to figure out what’s going on with us.”

Kyle says that everything he put his heart and soul into is now combusting.

Amanda claims that all she wants to do is be there to support Kyle, but right now their “relationship needs to be nurtured and protected.” She plans on meeting Kyle at therapy on Wednesday, but until then, she will take some space from Kyle.

The couple hugs goodbye and Amanda throws up a peace sign to Kyle before going her separate way.

Kyle is now 43 and did not think this is what his life would look like all these years later. This future is not what he wants with the potential loneliness and the loss of Amanda. But now it’s time for Kyle to realize how serious Amanda is about this situation…but where does that leave their marriage?
