Jim Edmonds took aim at the production of The Real Housewives of Orange County during a podcast appearance days ago, targeting producers’ manipulation.

Although Jim, 55, who appeared on the show alongside his now-ex-wife Meghan King, 41, admitted to enjoying his role at times, he also hinted at contrived storylines, revealed when he realized that he didn’t have control over his portrayal, and suggested that “every second” was manipulated.

“I thought it would be fun. I knew everybody that was involved. Right? So they actually got us to come on because of who I knew, with the girls and other people, and clearly it wasn’t everything that I thought it was going to be,” Jim shared on the June 11 episode of Tomi Laren is Fearless.

Looking back at his time filming, Jim recalled getting advice from someone who warned, “‘Hey, if you don’t have a storyline, they’re gonna make it look like you and so-and-so don’t get along.’”

“And then I also found out that they take a lot of B-roll when you’re not paying attention, even if nothing’s going on and you’re sitting on your back porch by yourself. So they do a lot of things. [And] I finally realized it when I said to one of the camera guys, ‘How [are] you doing today?’ And he said, ‘I’m doing great. I don’t have to sit in a studio for 14 hours and wait for somebody to roll their eyes.’ And that’s when I was like, ‘Okay, I see what we’re doing here,’” Jim continued. “They can portray you to do and be whatever they want you to be.

According to Jim, who is now married to wife Kortnie O’Connor, he’s the same person all the time — and “not the smiliest person all the time.”

“I enjoyed it, being with those people … [But] it was kind of interesting because they don’t care that we’re there. But they want to use you, so it’s kind of a weird double-edged sword,” he noted.

Jim then signaled heavily edited scenes and suggested that producers use alcohol to amp up the drama.

“From what I watched, watching the girls and watching everything, they manipulated every second of it,” he declared. “We’re at a party and then all of a sudden, they started fighting. That’s not really how it works, but if they feed you enough alcohol, you can kinda get into it.”
