Kim Zolciak is speaking out about the arrest of her 15-year-old son, Kroy “KJ” Jagger, who was accused of sexually assaulting a female at a gym in Alpharetta, Georgia, in April.

Following news that KJ was arrested for aggravated sodomy and aggravated sexual assault, the 48-year-old Real Housewives of Atlanta alum has suggested that the claims against him were “reckless” and “troubling” as she insisted that her son took and passed a polygraph test amid the investigation.

“The allegations being made against my son are nothing short of reckless and deeply troubling. He categorically denies ever being involved with this woman or engaging in the conduct she has alleged,” Kim said in a statement to Us Weekly on August 21. “My son voluntarily took a polygraph examination regarding these allegations and passed. Additionally, an examination was conducted, and no DNA belonging to my son was found.”

“False accusations can have devastating consequences not only for the person being accused, but also for genuine survivors of sexual assault and abuse. Every legitimate allegation deserves to be taken seriously and investigated based on the facts and evidence. At the same time, no one should be publicly condemned based solely on an accusation,” she continued. “We remain confident that the facts and evidence will establish the truth, and we ask that people allow the proper process to take its course rather than spreading unproven allegations.”

Months before his arrest, Kim, who shares son Kash, 14, and twins Kaia and Kane, 12, with estranged husband Kroy Biermann, 40, honored KJ on his 15th birthday.

“Happy Birthday to the most incredible son,” Kim wrote. “I had no idea what was missing from my life until you arrived. You changed me in ways I could never fully describe … You taught me strength, compassion, patience, and what the mother-son bond truly means. You are my heart walking outside of my body, and every day you amaze me.”

“You give the biggest, best hugs, and I am so proud of the young man you have become. Your work ethic, dedication, discipline, and drive especially when it comes to football are truly admirable. Watching you pursue your goals with such determination inspires me,” she went on. “No matter how old you get, you will always be my baby, my greatest blessing, and one of my proudest accomplishments. I am grateful every day that I get to be your mom.”

While KJ was accused of aggravated sexual battery and aggravated sodomy, there was no evidence of male DNA in the victim’s mouth or vagina when she was taken to the hospital. That said, police have continued to investigate the situation, targeting both security footage and cell phone data.

As TMZ noted on August 21, KJ was seen on video with the unnamed victim at the scene of the alleged crime, where he was accused of putting her mouth on his penis and digitally penetrating her without consent. In the same video, the victim was seen arriving and spending time with KJ before walking out of the family changing room, where the alleged incident happened, and heading to the lobby as KJ went to the sauna.

According to the report, the victim claimed to know KJ and his girlfriend, who was her best friend, from their school, and also said he dated a couple of her other friends. She then said she blocked KJ and the girlfriend after the alleged incident took place.

Amid the investigation, the girl gave police access to her phone, but they couldn’t pull evidence from the device due to a broken USB-C port.

KJ is being held at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center with a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 8.
