Teen Mom 2 alum Jenelle Evans‘ oldest son, Jace Evans, has had a slew of issues as of late.
One thing looming over him has been a case against his former stepfather, David Eason.
In September 2023, Jace, 17, told police he had run away from his home due to David, 38, allegedly assaulting him.
The Ashley’s Reality Roundup obtained a police report at the time in which Jenelle’s mother, Barbara Evans, told police that Jace had called her and said he was “hiding” from David after the alleged incident took place.
David has insisted he was innocent all along.
“It takes a sick person to spread lies on the internet about a child! Then the rest of you are sick for chiming in like you know something because you read their lies,” he wrote on Instagram in October 2023. “You people really need help! Our kids are in our custody, and anything you read is not true!”
He also claimed that “police reports have been falsified and the truth is already apparent to everyone involved.”
“The best thing any of you can do for Jace is to stop talking about him altogether, please! Thanks,” David’s message concluded.
This week, David appeared in court, and the specific charges against him — namely, felony charges of assault by strangulation and child abuse — were dropped.
The Ashley’s Reality Roundup had an insider in the court who detailed why the charges were dropped.
“The prosecutor explained that Jenelle, Barbara and Jace were not cooperating in the case anymore. She stated that they had previously been cooperating but that changed within the last week or so. The prosecutor asked for another continuance so that they had time to get more info. The judge was not having it, though, and stated that yet another continuance would just be ‘kicking a can down the road’ yet again.”
The judge ended up agreeing to settle the case and dismissed the charges.
Jenelle, 34, for her part, issued a shocking reaction to the charges being dismissed, especially given that they involved her son.
“Idc about anything to do with that court case because it was drama for attention from all parts,” she wrote on X yesterday. “Keep me away from all of it. I’m minding my own business. I have 2 other kids that need my attention.”
Jace is currently living with Barbara, 73, and he recently updated fans via Instagram to say he’s “doing pretty good.”
