Former Bravo producer Carlos King shared why he publicly addressed his rumored involvement in the drug allegations spread by Phaedra Parks about Kandi Burruss. He also hinted at his phone call with Andy Cohen at the time of the controversy.
In a past season of Real Housewives of Atlanta, Phaedra admitted to spreading a rumor that Kandi and her husband Todd Tucker planned to drug Porsha Williams in order to sexually take advantage of her. There was also a rumor at the time that the couple had a ‘sex dungeon.’
On the “After the Edit” podcast, Carlos was asked why he had to publicly debunk the allegation that he was the source of the rumor.
“It was a thing because that’s when social media started to percolate, and … the audience started to perpetuate rumors and a lot of people took it as fact,” he said, via @thegworlsarefightingg on Instagram. “For the sake of my reputation in the business, I had to say something about it.”
He then gave “props” to Andy for calling him at the time and “giving me some great advice,” and for “talking about it in [his] book.”
“So I appreciate him,” he said. “I appreciate the network, who spoke on it. I had to make sure that … I was protecting myself in the process, and I have no regrets doing that.”
Back in 2017, Kandi addressed getting heat for not forgiving Porsha after she mentioned the drug accusation on camera.
“You can’t just falsely accuse someone of trying to drug & take advantage of you on camera with the intent of defaming them & think it’s just gonna be ok a month later,” wrote Kandi on Facebook at the time. “I’m still dealing with trolls who have taken what she said & run with it even though the truth came out that it was a lie.”
Kandi added, “Stop putting a timeline on when I’m supposed to forgive and forget. … If the truth wouldn’t have came out some of y’all would’ve been putting me in the box with some of those predators that are being put on blast right now. All because her a** was spreading lies about me on national tv.”
