Fans of Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Nene Leakes finally got to see her return to Bravo on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th.
Since this was Nene’s first appearance on Bravo since 2020, chatter began to arise that she could potentially return to RHOA.
Nene, 58, appeared on the Big Tigger Morning Show for an interview and addressed the topic.
“I’ll go and play with them, but as far as me actually holding a peach and all over here with y’all sitting on the couch… uh, no girl,” she shared. “I can’t do that. That’ll drive me crazy.”
Nene insisted she doesn’t have “anything against the franchise” or “have any grudges.”
“As I said before, they did what they did, and I did what I did,” she continued. “And I’m not holding any grudges. At first I felt some kind of way for a while, because you have to get over things, right? But I have healed from that. I have moved on.”
She shared that she would love to go and host the women on a trip and then go home, and added that she doesn’t see herself sitting on a couch doing a reunion.
“I know being on the show there’s a lot of arguing, there’s a lot of disagreeing, there’s a lot of ganging up, there’s a lot of alliances, and I don’t want to be a part of that,” she elaborated. “I’m just not that right now in my life. I’m not there. That’s not where I want to be, right?”
Nene then talked about Shamea Morton, 44, and whether she should exit the franchise given all of the drama she had with her castmates this past season.
“That’s a good question,” Nene stated. “I understand where Shamea might… be coming from like, ‘Girl, why would you try to tell me how to leave my job?’ or ‘This is a check. Why would I lose my check over…’ I know from being on the show, you can just look at the history of the show. Where are the marriages?”
She noted that most people “aren’t married anymore to the same person that they started the show with.”
“Their friendships aren’t who you start the show with,” she said. “I mean, we can’t sit here and lie and act like the show don’t break down these things. It really does. It really does. I can’t tell Shamea to leave the show. I mean, she can do whatever she want to do. I just don’t see it being positive for her marriage.”
Finally, she talked about her son Brentt Leakes, 27, who had a heart attack in 2022.
“To watch my baby boy be very sick these last three or four years. Right after his dad died, my son had a heart attack. It’s been really difficult,” she shared. “It’s been real – I’m not the same person… life has a way of shaping you and … making you strong, and that’s why I said I’m proud of myself for being strong, because I know people that have broken from things like this. It’s been really hard.”
“My oldest son, you know, just to speak candidly, over the years has struggled with substance abuse, and that’s been really hard for him,” she continued. “He’s getting the help that he needs, and my son is getting the help that he needs for his heart. He has a new heart.”
Nene also shared that her kids didn’t choose to be on a reality show so it’s hard when they make a mistake and get written up on blogs.
“I wish the bloggers would stop doing that –putting people’s children out there that don’t deserve to be out there,” she noted. ” It really hurts them. It hurts them really bad.”
