Heather Gay reacted to Mary Cosby‘s recent revelation about fast-forwarding through her Real Housewives of Salt Lake City scenes during an interview on Tuesday.
Following Mary’s shady claim, Heather, 52, shared her thoughts about the diss, while also weighing in on the emotional season seven premiere, which saw Mary, 53, and the cast reacting to the death of her son, Robert Cosby Jr., who died of an overdose in February at the age of 23, and explaining how season seven is similar to season four.
“Oh, yeah, she told me she said that,” Heather laughed of Mary’s shade during a September 22 interview with Reality Tea. “That’s just Mary! You know, she could say a lot worse. I’m proud that she watches the show at all. We’re all busy, so yeah. I can take a few whacks.”
As fans may have seen, Mary admitted to fast-forwarding through scenes involving Heather during a chat with Vulture last week.
“I’m going to be honest: I absolutely do. Mainly Heather’s. I like things to stay consistent, and her consistency kind of falls off, so it doesn’t hold my interest,” Mary said at the time.
Heather then addressed the premiere.
“I watched it back, and I thought it was incredibly moving,” she noted. “I thought it was a beautiful tribute to Mary, and to her family, and to Robert Jr., and to her faith.”
“It’s not an easy task to tackle something so massive and so tragic in a format that is generally less than reverent, you know? We’re not known for our sensitivities … I cried, I felt all the feels. I felt like it was an important story to tell and to kick off the season in that way,” she continued.
Then, during a September 22 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Heather explained why she previously suggested season seven was like a “sequel” to season four, which ended with Monica Garcia, 43, being exposed for her ties to fan blogs through “receipts, proof, timeline, [and] screenshots.”
“Please never, ever take us back to that moment in Bermuda … That was a moment in time,” Heather clarified.
As for how the two seasons were similar, Heather signaled to “sisterhood.”
“There was some bonding that happened that we hadn’t had since season four. So when I said ‘season four, the sequel,’ it was more about that moment on the beach where we all kind of just bonded and like, looked at each other and said, like, ’Let’s choose a higher road,’” Heather reasoned. “I felt like there was a moment where that sisterhood was reaffirmed and that’s why I called it ‘season four, the sequel.’”
“There’s no ‘receipts, proof, timeline, screenshots,’ coming up. [But] there’s always drama,” she added.
