New details about Gizelle Bryant’s late father, Curtis Graves, and his estate are making the rounds on social media.
Years after Curtis’ July 2023 death, which was followed by legal battles involving the 56-year-old Real Housewives of Potomac star and her siblings, who challenged the legitimacy of the will he signed days before his passing, allegedly under the influence of his wife, Kay Graves, The Bravo Docket shared new facts from court documents.
“Graves’ 2023 will was extremely favorable to Kay. The document gave her his wedding ring, a gold chain, household belongings, and other specified property. She was also named as the beneficiary of the remainder of his estate as long as she survived him by 30 days,” The Gworls Are Fighting on X explained, crediting The Bravo Docket.
According to the report, Curtis’ children were included in his 2023 will but would only be given an inheritance if Kay died within 30 days. At that point, the children would have split 40 percent of the remainder, and the other 60 percent would be given to his sister-in-law — but with certain provisions involving their own children and trust accounts.
As RHOP viewers may know, Graves was hospitalized in July 2023 and underwent brain surgery on July 14, which paralyzed his right side. Days later, on July 20, he signed the 17-page will.
Because Gizelle and her sibling didn’t think Curtis was of a clear mind or understanding when he signed the document, and felt he was heavily influenced by Kay, they asked the court to reject it and distribute his estate under Georgia law as if he died without a valid will. Gizelle also requested she be appointed as the administrator of the estate.
After a judge shot down Gizelle’s request, Kay withdrew the will from probate amid questions surrounding how the will had been witnessed.
“The witnesses had reportedly watched Graves sign the document over Zoom, but they signed the paperwork later after the attorney took it back to her office. Kay acknowledged that the execution requirements had not been met and withdrew the will,” The Gworls Are Fighting explained. “That meant the court did not have to decide whether Graves actually lacked the mental capacity to sign the 2023 will or whether he had been unduly influenced.”
Kay then presented another will that was dated June 9, 2006, and also favored her heavily, giving her access to the remainder of Curtis’ property, including a boat, as long as she survived him by 90 days.
“If she did not survive him by those 90 days, however, the estate would be distributed differently. Under that plan, 25 percent would go to Graves’ son Christopher, while 75 percent would go to the same sister-in-law named in the 2023 will, with additional provisions for her children,” the outlet revealed.
Following the sharing of the information, Candiace Dillard-Bassett, 39, weighed in with a shady post after a fan mentioned her own mother, Dorothy Dillard, and her sister, Crystal.
“Dorothy wouldn’t write Candiace and Crystal out her will,” the fan stated on X.
“Well, no. Our mother likes us,” Candiace replied. “The nerve to carry on about my employment and your own people didn’t even want you on the payroll. Yike.”

The Real Housewives of Potomac season 11 premieres on Sunday, October 11, at 8/7c on Bravo.
