On this season of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, fans were shocked when Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards‘ daughter, Alexia Umansky, opened up about being sexually assaulted.

Aside from sharing the harrowing incident, Alexia, 30, also bravely opened up to her father, Mauricio Umansky, 56, who is also on the show about what happened.

Recently, Mauricio revealed how Alexia shared the news with Kyle, 57.

“We, the family as a whole, did not have the opportunity to have the conversation before it aired,” Mauricio shared with Us Magazine. “Alexia did call [her mom] Kyle [Richards] before it aired. She wanted to do it in person, and we kept looking for the right moment to do it and to have that conversation.”

He did note that, while Alexia and he were told that the episode would be airing before it did, they didn’t have time for a sit-down conversation with their family.

“Alexia and I were together in New York, I think, and she had to call her mom and tell her about it over the phone, which was really difficult,” Mauricio claimed. “But the whole family has not been together yet to really have an opportunity to discuss that.”

Mauricio also spoke with E! to share an update on his divorce from Kyle.

“Kyle and I are great friends; that’s the bottom line,” he noted. “Obviously, we have not filed yet. But to all of these separations that people go through, do it with dignity.”

“She and I had a relationship for 30 years,” he added. “She’s my best friend, she’s the mother of my kids, we loved each other, we love each other.”

While he noted that going through a split with the public watching is “not fun” as everyone has questions, he’s hoping he and Kyle can help others.

“If we can teach anybody anything, it’s how to do it with elegance and dignity and have respect for each other,” he said.

Mauricio did explicitly put to rest any speculation that he and Kyle are reconciling for the time being, as he shared that, for now, they are not getting back together.

“We just take it day at a time right now,” he stated. “I’m not going to give you any insight that I don’t have yet.”

Mauricio’s interviews come fresh on the heels of him quitting Special Forces after an injury.

“Staff, I am going to have to VW [voluntarily withdraw],” he shared before a challenge, as he was having trouble walking. “I physically no longer can continue.”

“My rib is just hurting, and if I’m going to be coughing and not able to breathe, I feel like it’s gonna break further,” Mauricio elaborated.

While he toyed with staying because Alexia was still there and he didn’t want to leave her alone, she gave him a nod and a thumbs up, saying she was okay with him quitting.

“I can no longer go on,” he ultimately declared. “Thank you for everything.”

New episodes of Special Forces air Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. ET on Fox.
