Kyle Cooke called out his wife Amanda Batula’s “chaotic” lifestyle as he addressed their sex life on Summer House, which was taped months before the couple announced their split. The star also revealed his financial issues with his beverage brand Loverboy.
Ahead of the new season, Amanda and Kyle released a joint statement confirming their breakup (amid rumors they were living apart). One source suggested that the couple has been separated much longer than they claimed.
On a recent episode of Summer House, Jesse said that Kyle became “a little spicy” with Amanda after she jumped in the pool wearing her bra amid the Fourth of July party. According to Jesse, he hadn’t ever seen Kyle “jealous or any type of way with [Amanda]” before this.
“[There are] so many things Amanda and I need to talk about,” said Kyle to Jesse, West Wilson, and KJ Dillard. “I shouldn’t say this, but … the last two years, she smokes weed every night.”
West questioned how this had affected the couple’s sex life, and Kyle insinuated that he and Amanda hadn’t at all been intimate.
Kyle claimed that her “chaotic” lifestyle caused their apartment to look and smell like a “frat house,” and Kyle had to beg her mom “to come into the city and help [clean].”
During the talk, Amanda came to “eavesdrop,” not realizing that she wasn’t meant to hear. After she arrived, Kyle expressed, “Now I feel bad,” before KJ responded, “Don’t, bro. We’re here for you.”
Amanda then asked what was happening. When they didn’t answer her immediately, Amanda broke the fourth wall, saying, “Someone say it. I’m gonna find out one way or another, and it’s better you tell me now in person than to find out on camera.”
“I just feel like you’re very disinterested in me and … us,” said Kyle. “You haven’t asked a question in years.”
“You over-exaggerate everything,” Amanda responded.
“I want companionship and friendship and, like, I don’t get that,” he said. “You don’t give me anything.”
“Not true,” said Amanda. “You want to talk about companionship and communication? There’s nothing more uncomfortable for me than everyone knowing about how you feel, except for me. It makes it awkward.”
“[I was] putting up smoke signals [for help],” answered Kyle, who said he didn’t know “what else to do.”
“[Let’s] talk about this later,” she said. At this point, Amanda went to Ciara Miller, telling her, “It just sometimes feels unfair, especially because I put up with so much for so long. And all of a sudden, he’s acting like I’m ruining his life.”
The next weekend, Amanda said in a confessional that things hadn’t improved.
“There was no conversation about what happened last weekend,” she explained. “There was no acknowledgement, there was no other, like, ‘Do you want to talk about it?’ And I’m not doing s**t, as Kyle has so eloquently told everyone. So, I’m prepped and ready for a conversation anytime he is, but nothing, nada.”
At one point, Amanda walked away after a discussion about her husband’s “drunk” behavior. Later, Kyle made a speech apologizing for his actions the previous weekend, though he had to tell Amanda and Ciara to stop talking over him.
Amanda responded by saying he should’ve apologized to her directly, instead of the group.
In the same episode, Kyle shared why things have been tense.
“When I’m catching up with you, and I’m catching up with friends, I’m not gonna unload on them weekend one and just be like, ‘Oh by the way, to save my [Loverboy] business, I had to put $500,000 in,” said Kyle to Carl Radke. “Oh, by the way, I stopped paying myself a salary at Loverboy, so that’s one of the reasons I started DJ’ing, to pay the bills.’ But that’s what I’ve been up to these last couple months.”
“In the last six months, we’ve actually seen a decline in distribution, which means declines in revenue,” he added. “So, I stopped taking a salary at Loverboy to kind of prolong our cash reserves.”
He then hinted at how this contributed to his issues with Amanda.
“I used to incur costs traveling for Loverboy; now I’m getting paid,” said the star. “I get that I decided to travel a lot and DJ, and I get that I work a lot, but when I do make an effort with Amanda, I don’t really feel like it’s reciprocated. And it’s eating me alive. … [She was giving] the cold shoulder at every given moment. … That stuff takes a toll.”
“She still pushes a lot of responsibility of our issues on me. It’s like, ‘Oh, look at Kyle, he’s just, like, drunk and DJ’ing and traveling,'” he continued. “It kind of gets reduced down to something that is not recognizable as to what’s actually going on, but I’m not gonna sit there and correct her.”
In another scene, Amanda brought up rumors that Kyle fell asleep at a fan’s apartment during a party (and didn’t come home until 6:30 a.m.).
“It’s been, like, 10 years of some of this s**t,” she said to Lindsay and Ciara. “Like, I can’t be doing this forever. Or he can’t be doing this forever, and I can’t be putting up with it forever.”
