Kristen Doute admitted to having “blind loyalty” to Nia Booko after Wednesday’s episode of The Valley saw her defending her against the women of the show.
As Janet Caperna accused Kristen, 43, of having “blind hate” for her and blaming her for anything that went wrong, and Brittany Cartwright, 37, reacted to Kristen’s continuous defense of Nia, 36, and Danny Booko, 42, castmates Lala Kent, 35, and Jesse Lally, 46, weighed in, and Kristen confirmed that she is, in fact, blindly loyal to her closest friends.
“I was like, ‘Move out of the way! Part the seas! In she comes, Kamikaze Kristen!’” Kristen recalled on the June 17 episode of The Valley: After Show. “[Luke Broderick] and Jesse [were] like, ‘Nia was being bullied.’ So I went to stop the bullying, and I have no regrets about it at all.”
According to Kristen, the cast had double standards when it came to whose back she was having.
“When someone wants me to be their pitbull, they’re very happy about it, but when it does not benefit them, suddenly it’s an issue. When I’ve been the person that fights for them, they have no problem with Kristen inserting herself. And that includes every single person that was on the rooftop that night,” she stated.
Looking back at her decision to rush in on behalf of Nia, Kristen said she would’ve backed off if Nia had encouraged her to do so.
“If Nia had said to me in that moment, like, ‘No, no, no, Kristen,’ then I would’ve been like, ‘Ok, my bad. Sorry. I’m going to excuse myself.’ But like, yeah, fine, I have a blind loyalty. Sure. [Zack Wickham], Nia, Brittany, Luke, you’re absolutely right.”
Also reflecting on the incident, Janet said that Kristen acted as if she “had Nia hogtied and was like, waterboarding her.”
“I do think that there’s a blind loyalty with Danny and Nia. But it’s also like a blind hate for me. It’s like if something’s going wrong, it’s definitely Janet’s fault,” she noted.
As for Kristen’s suggestion that she’d had her back in the past, Janet wondered when.
“I don’t think that I had people that she had to attack for me,” she explained.
“I just wish that she was a pitbull for principal instead of people. Like, be the person who’s on the side of right and wrong, not, oh, this person is my friend, so they can do no wrong, and you’re my enemy, so you can do no right,” Janet added.
Meanwhile, in their own After Show segment, after Brittany described Kristen as her “ride or die,” Lala questioned how good a friend Kristen had been to her.
“There were numerous occasions where, when push was coming to shove, you were on the receiving end,” she told Brittany. “I think that the two of you have what’s almost like an unconditional love. And if she comes for you, she knows you guys will always work it out. One wrong move with Nia, and she has shown that the guard is up, and you’re now on the receiving end of this.”
Lala then noted that Kristen “definitely blindly supports” the Bookos as Brittany wondered why.
“I would like to say they were going through postpartum and stuff together. But it was like this last season, too. They weren’t even pregnant at that time, so I’m not really sure what it is,” she admitted.
Also on the After Show, Jesse applauded Kristen for having their co-stars’ backs.
“Her loyalty to Danny and Nia has actually, I think, really influenced my loyalty to Danny and Nia. Because I see the wrongs that have been done and I want to now stand up for those wrongs,” he declared.
The Valley season three airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on Bravo.
