There had been some rumors and whispers in the past few weeks but today it is official – Carole Radziwill is leaving the Real Housewives of New York City.
Moments ago, Carole made the shocking announcement, via a statement, that she is quitting RHONY to focus on her journalism career.
“After six seasons on Bravo’s RHONY, I have decided to return to what I do best — journalism and producing,” Carole told Bravo’s The Daily Dish.
“I am sure this does not come as a surprise to any of the viewers, all of whom have been supportive, encouraging, and kind,” she added. “My original curiosity about reality television has waned over the years and I am focusing on TV and writing projects that better suit my more steady temperament.”
Carole, 54, originally joined the show in season 5, and has remained a full-time cast member for the last six seasons.
The usually drama-free former journalist however found herself engaged in a rather nasty feud with her co-star Bethenny Frankel this season, both on and off the show, with both ladies accusing the other of not being honest about what ended their friendship. With the timing of Carole’s departure, one has to wonder if this feud with Bethenny played a role.
Carole is however making it clear she has no hard feelings towards any of her castmates as she joked that she won’t miss her “frenemies.”
“I have worked with amazing producers, made great friends, and I’m thrilled to leave frenemies behind,” she wrote. “I will remember this entire experience with delight, humor, and a veracious accuracy. Next.”
And just minutes ago, she took to her Instagram page and posted a cryptic quote: “Didn’t change, just learned.”

Oddly enough, before this season started, there were a few reports stating Bethenny would be quitting the show following this season due to her feud with Carole. And during an interview back in May, Bethenny left that door open by stating she had yet to make up her mind. It will definitely be quite the shake up for RHONY next year if Bethenny ends up leaving as well.
A new episode of RHONY airs tonight on Bravo at 9/8c.
