RHONY Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy update lawsuit

Bethenny Frankel is currently entangled in a $2 million malpractice lawsuit stemming from her messy split from ex-husband Jason Hoppy.

According to a new report, the Real Housewives of New York City cast member will be taking the stand against her former attorney, Jamie Andrew Schreck, as she questions her ex-counsel — and answers questions about a trust created after her marriage to Jason.

In documents filed earlier this month and obtained by The Blast, it was revealed that Bethenny will be deposed by her former attorney before February 15.

During the deposition, Bethenny will answer not only questions about her trust, but also about who it was that allowed the terms of said trust to work in her ex-husband’s favor in regard to the splitting of their former marital assets.

The $2 million lawsuit was filed after Bethenny bought a $5 million apartment in New York City in 2011 and hired Jamie to represent her in the property sale. According to Bethenny, she wanted to put the property in her name but her then-husband Jason preferred they create a trust. Then, during the divorce, Bethenny discovered the trust would allow Jason 50% interest in the property, as well as the right to live in the home without paying rent.

As a result of the trust’s terms, Bethenny believed Jamie failed to work in her best interest because she had given up her sole rights to the home by agreeing to set up the trust.

After Bethenny takes the stand for questioning, she will be given time of her own to ask her former attorney about the creator on the trust.

Bethenny’s former attorney has however denied all claims of wrongdoing and insisted he represented the best interests of both Bethenny and her then-husband Jason during the sale. As he explained, it was Bethenny’s fault that she later split from Jason and didn’t have sole ownership of their home and feels the case should be dismissed.

Bethenny and Jason split in 2012 after just three years of marriage and have been locked in a bitter custody battle over their daughter Bryn ever since.

Bethenny Frankel and her co-stars are currently in the midst of production on The Real Housewives of New York City season 11. The new episodes will begin airing sometime next year on Bravo TV.
