Thomas Ravenel is asking the courts to order Kathryn Dennis to pay him child support. In new court documents, he also alleges that Kathryn drank and used drugs while pregnant with their youngest child, three-year-old Saint Julien, and that’s not all.
According to the former Southern Charm star, who was removed from the show last year after being arrested in connection to claims of sexual assault, Saint Julien and his oldest child, four-year-old Kensington, have “developmental and behavioral problems” as a result of Kathyrn’s behavior.
“The parties’ oldest child, K.C.R., has developmental and behavioral problems that have required intensive therapy. Father is informed and believes these problems are the result of [Dennis’] lack of bonding with K.C.R. during infancy. … The parties’ youngest child, S.J.R., has developmental and behavioral problems that have required intensive therapy. Father is informed and believes that these problems are the result of Mother’s drug and alcohol consumption while S.J.R. was in utero,” his documents state, according to a report from PEOPLE on January 8.
In response to the shocking allegations Kathryn’s attorney told the magazine, “For ethical reasons, I’m not going to comment on her case in the media. However, I am preparing an appropriate reply that will be filed with the Court denying defamatory allegations made by Mr. Ravenel.”
As fans of Southern Charm will recall, Kathryn lost custody of her kids and checked herself into rehab in 2016 after failing a drug test. At the same time, her former boyfriend was awarded full custody of Kensington and Saint Julien. Years later, however, Kathryn was able to prove her sobriety and regained 50/50 custody of the kids.
After regaining 50/50 custody, Kathryn took one step further in her court battle with Thomas in October, when she filed for full custody of Kensington and Saint Julien.
Since being awarded 50/50 custody, Thomas claims his kids “have received regular, individualized therapy tailored to their developmental needs” and “have developmentally and behaviorally progressed under his care.”
Meanwhile, according to Thomas, he “has observed marked regression in the minor children’s therapeutic progress” following the kids’ time with their mother.
“The minor children have developmentally regressed since [Dennis] has assumed 50/50 time with the children, as evidenced by … [Dennis’] failure to help potty train the parties’ youngest child and continuing to feed the youngest by a bottle instead of a cup,” he claimed in his court documents.
While Kathryn continues to be monitored by drug tests as their custody battle continues, Thomas is insisting that she “abuses prescription drugs, is engaged in the use of illegal drugs and consumes alcohol in combination thereof regularly.”
He even claims Kathryn has used “synthetic urine” to pass her drug tests.
Kathryn also, according to Thomas’ documents, “buys, sells, and trades prescription medications to and from friends, cast members, and show producers to support her prescription drug habit.”
Kathryn “has been intoxicated by the abuse of prescription drugs and/or use of illegal drugs while in sole care and control of the parties’ minor children … and suffers from severe mental health disorders and drug addictions that impede her ability to properly care and provide” for their children, Thomas continued.
He then said Kathryn “becomes overwhelmed after having sole care of the minor children for more than a few days, causing [Dennis] to further engage in illegal drug use and/or prescription drug abuse as a coping mechanism for anxiety and stress” and claimed that “[Dennis] has been diagnosed with multiple mental health conditions, including but not limited to Bi-Polar Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, kleptomania, self-mutilation, and Cluster B Personality Traits, including histrionic and borderline personality disorders.”
Thomas is requesting full custody of Kensington and Saint Julien and wants Kathryn to “pay an appropriate amount of child support” to him.
Among his other requests, Thomas is hoping a judge will agree that his children should not be “filmed or featured on Southern Charm or any other television show” and that Kathryn should be prohibited “from using the minor children to secure or facilitate endorsements and income through any kind of public exposure.”
He also doesn’t want Kathryn drinking or using drugs around the children.
Southern Charm will return to Bravo later this year for season six.
