Teresa Giudice is reportedly planning to leave her husband Joe Giudice upon his deportation.
According to a new report, the Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member has no intention of staying married to Joe if he’s deported back to Italy and told her co-stars they will “go our separate ways” if his appeal is unsuccessful.
“We’d go our separate ways,” Teresa said, according to PEOPLE, while filming the RHONJ season nine reunion.
One year prior, however, during the season eight reunion, Teresa told a very different story, claiming that if her husband was deported, she’d be on board with moving to Italy.
“I mean, Italy’s a beautiful place to live,” she said. “I wouldn’t mind, you know, I’m just saying. Listen, whatever God has planned for me, that’s what’s going to happen. I will embrace it the best I can.”
As for what changed, Teresa reportedly explained to host Andy Cohen that she sat down with her kids, Gia, 18, Gabriella, 14, Milania, 12, and Audriana, 9, to discuss the matter and decided to stay in the United States without their father.
“Teresa told Andy that if Joe gets deported, she’s not going,” a source at the reunion claimed. “She said that she and Joe had talked about it over the phone, and that he understood.”
Another insider revealed Andy had questioned Teresa about the future of her marriage.
“She didn’t really express any sadness about that,” the second source explained. “She just focused instead on the girls. It was very matter of fact.”
In October 2018, months before Joe’s scheduled release in March of this year, a judge decided he would be deported to Italy after his sentence was complete due to the fact that he committed an “aggravated felony.” One month after the ruling, Joe filed an appeal but so far, the decision has not been overturned.
“They are obviously optimistic that he is coming home,” said the insider. “Teresa’s hope is that they can remain together as a family.”
It might be a bit telling that Teresa’s attorney, James J. Leonard Jr., who is usually quick to shoot down any inaccurate rumors, declined to comment when contacted by PEOPLE for their story.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey season nine airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo TV.
