Erika Jayne was reportedly surprised by Tuesday night’s episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which featured her co-star, Lisa Vanderpump, joking that she was “tucking,” as a new report is suggesting Lisa is in ‘panic’ over the backlash.
A day after Bravo aired the RHOBH episode, Lisa issued a statement in which she expressed remorse for her remark on the show. However, a source is claiming she was taken aback by some of the negative public feedback she received.
“Why didn’t Lisa Vanderpump’s statement include an apology? She is clearly in panic mode and not experienced in apologizing,” a source told Us Weekly on May 23. “She claims to have been bullied all season but she is the one calling people names like ‘bitch’ [Teddi Mellencamp] and ‘stupid cow’ [Dorit Kemsley]. It’s nonstop, and with the trans comment, the audience hit a breaking point and had to draw a line.”
Lisa’s Vanderump Rules castmate, who is also a member of the trans community, Billie Lee did come to her defense during the week.
In more RHOBH news, a separate report is also claiming that Erika was disappointed and shocked by Lisa’s statement, especially considering the despicable treatment of transgender people that is currently happening around the world.
“Erika is really disappointed in Lisa Vanderpump’s poor choice of comment on Tuesday night’s episode of RHOBH,” a source told Hollywood Life on May 22. “She really wasn’t expecting Lisa to say anything like that. Erika feels Lisa made fun of a major problem happening in the world with so many trans women being killed and by her making a comment like that is essentially making it OK. Erika feels that Lisa is truly better than that kind of talk.”
While Lisa did offer a public apology to the transgender community for her statement, Erika has yet to hear from her co-star, nor is she expecting to.
“Erika is not expecting a direct apology from Lisa Vanderpump,” the source explained. “She’s not expecting to hear from her at all after last night’s episode as the two still haven’t spoken or seen one another in months.”
Although Erika didn’t directly comment on Lisa’s words on Twitter, she did re-tweet the sentiments of transgender actress Candis Cayne, who slammed Lisa for her “ugly” joke and accused her of “marginalizing” the LGBTQ community.
Oh come on @lisavanderpump joking about @erikajayne “tucking” Ugly Trans jokes marginalizing our community are not acceptable. Being an ally doesn’t give you a free pass

In her public apology, Lisa admitted to using a “poor choice of words” while chatting about Erika in her confessional.
“I have nothing but respect and love for trans people around the world, as I have been a staunch supporter, provided employment, offered emotional support, and championed LGBTQ issues,” she said. With recent news of trans women losing their lives for living their authentic truth in a world of discrimination and hate, I never want to diminish the very real pain and struggle that trans people go through every day.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season nine airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo TV.
