Real Housewives of Orange County star Emily Simpson started off 2020 by revealing her new year’s resolutions and publically apologizing to her husband Shane Simpson.
This past year was a rough one for Emily for many reasons, from fighting with her costar and bestie Gina Kirschenheiter to undergoing a painful hip replacement surgery. But perhaps the hardest part of 2019 was struggling in her marriage for all the world to see.
After wishing her followers a happy 2020 and boasting about her triumphant climb to the top of Patriot Trail in San Juan Capistrano, CA, Emily took a moment to reflect on the past year. She admitted how much her physical ailments have affected so many aspects of her life, including her marriage.
“For the past year I had trouble walking, working out, getting up and down stairs … I even got to the point where I couldn’t tie my own shoes. I couldn’t sleep at night. I was depressed, irritable, sad, etc. Suffering from chronic hip pain was debilitating physically, but mentally as well. It took a huge toll on my life, marriage, relationships, psyche, body, etc” the mother-of-three wrote alongside a picture of her after she’d completed her hike. “Being able to hike up steep hills to reach the top of Patriot Trail was a pivotal moment that let me feel like my old self again. I feared that girl was gone. But she’s not. She’s here, ready to take on 2020 ????????”
But before ending her post, Emily took a moment to publicly apologize to her husband Shane.
“I’m excited for the new year and I’m ready to try new things, be more physically fit, hike more trails (any suggestions?) and be the best MOM and WIFE I can be. My family deserves that, and I’m sorry I wasn’t my best over the past year @Shanesimps” wrote Emily before closing off her post.
As fans already know, Emily and Shane have struggled in their marriage over the last couple of years. Emily even admitted on the show that she’d contemplated getting a divorce. But while Shane received a lot of backlash for the way he treated his wife on the show, fans saw another side of the story after he revealed all the reasons he loved Emily during the season 14 reunion special.
