Kathryn Dennis is in hot water — yet again.
The Southern Charm star is being sued by brand consultant Katherine Leonard for thousands of dollars in unpaid wages after hiring her to help “overhaul her image.” The news of this lawsuit comes just weeks after Kathryn made racially insensitive remarks.
The reality star was called out for her recent conversation with Charleston, South Carolina activist Mika Gadsden. The two shared a heated back-and-forth exchange after Kathryn defended her friend, Katie Shields, for planning a Trump boat rally. Mika called Katie “reprehensible” for supporting Trump. Kathryn used a monkey emoji while responding to Mika — a black woman — causing fans to condemn the racist gesture.
Now, she’s being taken to court by Ms. Leonard, who she hired to help clean up her image, months before the latest scandal took place, and who she’s apparently not paid for her services. In the court documents obtained by The Sun, which were filed in Charleston county, Leonard is requesting $4,908 along with the $80 filing fee she paid.
“I was brought on to help Ms Dennis to rebrand herself and worked in good faith to achieve all the goals we set out for her,” the documents read. “Once she gave me a deposit we began to work on meeting said goals on a strict deadline. She accepted my services and I performed them perfectly.”
The complaint, which was filed March 3 and summoned Kathryn on April 1, gave her 30 days to respond. The court’s website lists it as an “Affidavit of Service” and says the case is still pending.
“Two letters have been sent by a lawyer to her to no avail. I now have no choice but to file here in order to get paid for the work I performed for her in Nov, 2019!” Leonard’s complaint read.
Kathryn has yet to publicly respond to this lawsuit.
After facing the heat from her recent comments, Kathryn was dropped by Gwynn’s Department Store and faced backlash from fans. She’s also been accused of being the source of the “fake” cheating rumors about Cameran Eubanks‘ husband, Jason Wimberly, which Cameran implied was the reason for her exit from the show.
