PHOTOS: RHOC's Emily Simpson Opens Up About 30-Pound Weight Gain, Reveals Bouts With Depression and Chronic Pain and Explains How She Developed a "Healthy Relationship" With Food as She Shows Off Her New Body

Emily Simpson is looking better and better in recent photos, and in a post shared to her Instagram account weeks ago, the Real Housewives of Orange County star opened up about her new body and how she lost weight.

Along with a photo of herself working out, Emily shared details about the “ups and downs” of her fitness journey, revealing that after making herself a priority, she was able to drop 16 pounds and is now planning to rid her body of her breast implants.

“[I’m] currently 16 pounds down,” Emily revealed in August. “Body fat percentage 10% lower than last year. And no longer categorized as ‘obese.'”

“My first step was contacting [fitness expert Paulina Hefferan] and asking for help,” Emily continued. “Sometimes we become too overwhelmed with life, kids, depression, weight gain, hormones, relationships, illness etc … but you have to start somewhere.”

According to Emily, she still has work to do before she reaches her ultimate goal, but she has learned to appreciate the journey she is on while maintaining healthy eating habits and exercising regularly.

“I still enjoy an Egg McMuffin occasionally too (it’s all about balance!)” she shared.

Emily then said that after getting rid of hair extensions, she’s planning to have her breast implants removed.

“Hair extensions are gone and soon these implants are about to be evicted. I feel lighter. Free,” she added.

In another recent post shared on Instagram, Emily revealed she gained 30 pounds due to bouts with depression and chronic pain.

“At 43 years old I had to re-evaluate my relationship with food and realize that I was a serial grazer,” Emily explained in a September 5 post. “Having young children, being in my early 40s and wrestling with depression from chronic pain led to a 30 pound weight gain.”

According to Emily, she follows the direction of Paulina’s fitness program and also uses her recipe book for meal ideas to keep her healthy eating habits on track while also working out three to four times each week.

“I finally learned how to have a healthy relationship with food,” Emily revealed. “This program has worked for me because it doesn’t teach you what NOT to eat, but teaches you what you should eat. Also the accountability keeps you motivated because when you have someone rooting for you every step of your journey, you have no choice but to succeed!”
