Things have been looking up for Teresa Giudice lately, and most reports are claiming she’s extremely “happy” and “madly in love” with her new beau, but could newly surfaced court records put a damper on that happiness or spell trouble for her relationship in the future?

By now I’m sure every fan of The Real Housewives of New Jersey has read or heard about Teresa’s new man, Luis “Louie” Ruelas. The star has confirmed the news and both Joe Giudice, Teresa’s ex-husband, and Luis’ ex-wife, Marisa DiMartino, have even spoken out and are wishing the new couple well and offering their approval of the relationship. However, this wouldn’t be a Housewives’ relationship without a little scandal, right?

Documents of a lawsuit have been obtained by The Sun that allege Luis engaged in “controlling and abusive behavior” in the past. These allegations were made by his ex-fiancée in a lawsuit she filed in New Jersey on April 15, 2020. She claims this behavior occurred between February 2019, which was right after they got engaged, through October 2019.

The lawsuit claimed, “In October 2019, [Louie] abandoned [his ex-fiancée] in Provincetown, Massachusetts and then padlocked [her] out of the [New Jersey] home that they shared.”

The document also stated, “After some other instances of controlling, abusive behavior, [Louie] gave [his ex-fiancée] various gifts to induce [her] to continue her relationship with him.”

The name of the woman has not been released, but she is a licensed social worker. She stated that Luis founded a social worker company during their relationship, which was supposed to be a “gift” to her, and she was persuaded to believe that she would have complete and total control of the business. However, she asserts that the businessman ultimately “arrogated unto himself” exclusive control over the business.

The court papers also show that his ex claims Luis did this “with the intent to destroy and tortuously interfere with [her] business as a licensed social worker and to seek personal revenge against [her].” Furthermore, she believed he was determined to cause her to “suffer severe mental distress.”

The woman alleged that she was “threatened” by Luis by telling her he intended to “damage her educational degree in social work and her license as a social worker,” as well as “contact her friends to damage her reputation.” In addition, she stated he “refused” to allow her to retrieve her belongings from the New Jersey home they apparently shared at the time.

Luis’ ex did file for a restraining order in an attempt to stop him from controlling the business. She also wanted her attorney fees paid and requested for him to be held responsible for paying those fees.

Nevertheless, it must be noted that this woman ultimately dropped the lawsuit on May 20. It is unclear whether a settlement was reached out of court.

Luis is the co-founder of Digital Media Solutions and is the father of two children, who he shares with his ex-wife Marisa. At one point his profile could be found on his company’s website along with the other co-founders and employees, but both his picture and profile have recently been removed for unknown reasons.

The since-deleted profile once read, “His extensive entrepreneurship experience, hustler mentality and competitive spirit culminate with his love of family and passion for community.” Another excerpt from the bio stated, “A father of two sons, Luis spends a great deal of time advocating for children with special needs with a particular focus on Autism given his son’s condition.”

Meanwhile, Teresa’s sister-in-law and RHONJ co-star, Melissa Gorga, joined an Instagram Live hosted by The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City break-out star, Jen Shah, which E! has since reposted. Melissa offered a coy update on the Fabulicious! author and her new man, but it didn’t appear like she wanted to share too much and kept the topic short.

“Teresa’s good. She’s got her little boyfriend,” she teased with a wink. “She’s good.”
