Now that Erika is on her own after filing for divorce from attorney Thomas Girardi in November 2020, she’s putting her own personal touches on the new $1.5 million L.A. home she recently began renting.
The “XXpen$ive” songstress has downsized significantly after living in the 10,200-square-foot Pasadena mansion she shared with her estranged husband for more than 20 years.
She is said to be busy decorating her new $9,500 a month rental — likely humbling for the once uber-wealthy reality star — which features three bedrooms and two bathrooms and sits on a private lot surrounded by trees.
“It’s the start of her new life, her new beginning. She has been settling in, decorating it, and making it her own. She’s happy,” a source close to the star told E! News.
Erika was spotted out over the weekend and appears to be adjusting to a “thriftier” lifestyle as she visited her local KFC and sported a black Adidas tracksuit. There was seemingly no glam in sight, which fans know is unusual for the “Pretty Mess” singer.

She accessorized the tracksuit with cat-eye sunglasses on her head and matching sneakers as she carried a monogrammed handbag with her initials in red.
After grabbing fast food, a maskless Erika appeared to be meeting up with friends judging by the photos shared by the Daily Mail, which show her sharing a hug with a male who looks very similar to her longtime stylist, Mikey Minden. However, whether the man in the photos is actually Mikey has not yet been confirmed.
This latest outing comes just days after Thomas’ brother, Robert Girardi, filed a citation for conservatorship after claiming that Thomas is no longer capable of caring for himself. Robert has requested that control of Thomas’ estate be given to his family and noted that the attorney’s condition has deteriorated a great deal.
“Thomas V. Girardi (“Tom”) is a renowned trial lawyer, responsible for some of the most notable mass tort verdicts in California,” Robert wrote in the court document. “However, at age 81, Tom’s current condition has sadly deteriorated to the point where he cannot care for himself without assistance. His short-term memory is severely compromised and, on information and belief, he is often not oriented as to date, time or place.” Robert added that he “has first-hand knowledge that Tom lives alone and can not care for himself.”
It’s not yet known if Erika will sign off on the conservatorship. It’s also unclear if she’ll address Thomas’ health on season 11 of RHOBH or any of the current lawsuits they’re facing, but fans are hoping to get a peek into her new bachelorette pad at the very least.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 11 is still in the production stage, but it’s expected to air on Bravo sometime this spring.
