Melissa Gorga isn’t upset with her husband, Joe Gorga, for “[losing] his sh-t” on a tenant. In fact, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star claims Joe has been getting tons of “love” and support in the days since a video of the encounter was leaked online.
After Joe was seen screaming at the tenant, who he deemed a “f-cking loser,” for failing to pay rent, Melissa addressed the topic while attending Mohegan Sun’s Toast with the Host with her spouse on Friday.
“The amount of calls and texts we got that were so proud of him. They were like, ‘That man should pay his rent,’” Melissa told Page Six. “I never want him to yell at anyone … but he actually got love, and people were proud that he stood up for [himself].”
According to Melissa, the tenant, who shot the leaked video on his cell phone, hasn’t just failed to pay rent — he’s also reportedly been stealing packages and deliveries for others living in her husband’s building.
“He’s just not a good guy, so Joe did him a favor. The guy screwed him like he screws everyone else,” she explained. “So it was very sad, and Joe lost his sh-t, which is never good. But at the same time, everyone was so proud of him. He did what he did, but the guy’s a real scumbag and he deserved it. So, that’s that. Sorry not sorry.”
In regard to the berating of his “f-cking loser” tenant, who he claimed hasn’t paid rent in “four f-cking years,” Joe has no regrets.
“I just don’t do well with people that don’t do the right thing in life and don’t hustle and don’t work and don’t try, and so I’m gonna stand by how I handled it,” he stated.
In the nearly three-minute video obtained by TMZ last week, the tenant admitted to owing Joe rent for January and every month since. However, according to Joe, his “terrible, terrible” tenant owes him $89,000 after ceasing his payments just three months into his lease.
“You had nowhere to live and I f-cking gave you a f-cking house,” Joe screamed at the tenant in the video as he repeatedly told the man he was a “f-cking loser” and mentioned drugs.
Joe went on to say that his tenant was attempting to “beat the system” rather than get a job and pay his bills.
As TMZ noted, the tenant claimed that a number of months’ rent payments had been submitted by the state of New Jersey after he qualified for a COVID relief program after losing his job as a restaurant manager.
Although Page Six noted that the man owes Joe nearly $90,000, his attorney told TMZ the number is closer to $50,000.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 13 is currently in production and expected to begin airing on Bravo sometime later this year or early next year.
