The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast will reportedly be taking a months-long break as they prepare for the start of production on season 14 later this year.
As producers take the next few months to talk over who they believe should stay and who they feel should move on, as well as whether or not new cast members will be added, Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga, Margaret Josephs, Dolores Catania, Jennifer Aydin, Danielle Cabral, and Rachel Fuda will allegedly have the summer off.
According to a report from All About the Real Housewives on May 12, the show is being put on “pause” for the summer.
Although RHONJ typically films during the warmer months, from May to August, as the show’s ladies spend time with one another and their husbands and partners at the Jersey Shore, the cast will instead commence filming in September — at the earliest.
As the outlet explained, production may resume in September. But it seems far more likely that the new season will begin in October and continue filming until December.
And, regarding what the producers hope to see from the upcoming episodes, they reportedly want the show, which premiered in May 2009, to get back to the basics as more of a “family-oriented” series. That said, that doesn’t necessarily mean that anyone will be booted.
While several reports have suggested the RHONJ cast will stay the same for season 14, All About the Real Housewives claims that is not true — at least at this stage in the game. Instead, they confirmed no one knows anything, and contracts have not been sent out.
For now, the ladies’ roles on the show are up in the air. And, as a producer shared, “[No one] knows if they will return next season or not.”
“[But] every Housewife wants to come back,” they added.
Casting decisions are expected to be made in the coming months. And, while the series could look just as it did in season 13 for season 14, it could also change, including demotions, upgrades, and firings.
As RHONJ fans may know, many viewers have grown tired of the ongoing back and forth between Teresa and the Gorgas, including her brother Joe Gorga. So, when it comes to season 14, producers are hoping that the ladies will learn to co-exist and not put so much focus on their feud.
There have been swirling rumors regarding Melissa’s potential exit from the cast in recent weeks. But, during an episode of her podcast earlier this month, she confirmed she has “no intentions” of leaving.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey season 13 airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
