Thomas Ravenel was recently hospitalized following what sounds to be an extremely painful polo accident.
After spending four days in the hospital, the Southern Charm alum took to his Instagram page, where he posted a photo of himself in a polo outfit and helmet as he revealed he suffered seven broken bones and punctured lungs.
“Out of commission for awhile,” Thomas announced on June 4. “Just spent [four] days in the hospital. Had a polo accident broke [seven] bones and puncturing my lungs. But don’t worry. I’ll live. If, I don’t die. [Just kidding].”
Thomas went on to say that he will “be back” after a seven-week recovery.
“I’ll be back in [seven] weeks. When they took the x-rays, they said, ‘You’ve broken these bones before.’ I was a bit surprised. Didn’t know broken bones left scars,” he admitted.

Thomas appeared on Southern Charm for its first five seasons, and his former girlfriend, Kathryn Dennis, the mother of his daughter Kensington, 9, and son Saint Julien, 7, remained on the show through season eight.
And although Thomas and Kathryn haven’t appeared on the show alongside one another for some time, their custody battle continued to play out publicly until it concluded earlier this year with Thomas being granted sole custody of their children.
“I was awarded sole custody,” Thomas revealed to All About the Tea in May. “I make all the parenting decisions. Kathryn [Dennis] has the right to supervised visitation by an approved supervisor [approved by the court] between the hours of 9:00am — 7:00pm, every other weekend.”
“She’s not allowed to have overnights with the children. I will transport the children to a halfway point between Aiken and Charleston where Kathryn will pick them up,” he added.
Back in 2021, after purchasing a $1.8 million home in 2020, Thomas relocated his kids from Charleston to Aiken, South Carolina.
“I am beyond grateful for the outcome of this custody battle and for being granted sole custody of my children. Family is the most important thing in my life, and I will do everything in my power to ensure that my kids have a happy and stable future,” Thomas continued. “This has been a challenging journey, but with the support of my loved ones and legal team, justice prevailed.”
Southern Charm season nine is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime later this year.
