Monique Samuels revealed new details about her chat with Gizelle Bryant on Sunday night’s episode of Watch What Happens Live.
As she also reflected on Gizelle’s divorce prediction regarding her marriage to Chris Samuels, 48, reacted to Ashley Darby‘s breakup on The Real Housewives of Potomac, and spoke of Stacey Rusch‘s motivation for kicking Tia Glover out of her event, Monique, 42, confirmed whether she’d reconcile with Candiace Dillard-Bassett, 38, addressed the end of her marriage, and more.
“I wish they would’ve shown so much more. Y’all missed everything,” Monique revealed of her chat with Gizelle on the December 7 episode of WWHL. “She was accountable. We apologized to each other. We got into it from literally, ‘I have four homes,’ all the way up to the binder. Like, we really went there. And we laughed. It was very unexpected, but it was refreshing. It was really good.”
According to Monique, Gizelle said “a lot.”
“We were able to kind of like, put some pieces to the puzzle that were missing that I forgot about, and it was a lot of misunderstanding between her and I,” she explained. “I was surprised, but I was also like, hoping she would [be accountable] because it’s been so many years, so it was a really like, it was a nice, grown-up moment for us, and then we ended on a note where we said we will always throw shade, but to each other’s face — not in the confessionals.”
Monique also acknowledged that she can now see where Gizelle was coming from when she doubted her marriage years ago.
“[But] I feel like one thing she said she got wrong is that she said that I wasn’t being authentic. I was. But at the end of the day, when you’re in a marriage, you typically try to keep what’s happening in the home in the home. Trying to do that and juggle doing that on reality TV was very difficult for me, so yeah, when she saw through certain things, it’s because she’s been through it before,” Monique shared.
After confirming she’s not yet dating, Monique looked back at Sunday’s episode of RHOP, admitting to feeling bad for Ashley’s boyfriend after they broke up.
“I was so sad. I felt for his little heart,” she began.
That said, Monique admired Ashley’s reasoning for calling it quits.
“Ashley made it very clear what her boundaries were and what she needed, so I was happy about it,” she noted.
As for Stacey kicking Tia out of her event, Monique found the ordeal “insane.”
“I think that Stacey just got to a moment where she was just like, ‘everybody’s been ganging up on me and I’m about to put my foot down, with whoever,’” she explained, agreeing that Tia was simply collateral damage.
“I feel like it was a buildup, and she was the last person to put the straw on the top,” she shared.
When a fan questioned Monique about the way she exited RHOP years ago, following her fight with Candiace, and wondered if the two of them could ever make amends, Monique declined.
“There was no relationship, and sometimes moving on doesn’t mean that you have to reconcile,” she explained. “Sometimes you just see people for who they are, and you know your place, and you set your boundaries, and it’s okay not to rekindle something that isn’t meant to be rekindled.”
During a game of rapid-fire questions, Monique revealed that after leaving RHOP in 2020, she remained in touch with Ashley the most and didn’t watch the show “at all.” In fact, she didn’t even get tea from her co-star.
“[Ashley] actually respected the space that I was in. I was a hermit. I really like, was off the grid, so she respected that,” she noted.
Then, after admitting she was “very nervous” to return to the show, Monique shared the breaking point in her marriage.
“It was really me kind of waking up and realizing that this is not the person who I thought he was. And I can’t change him. And it’s not fair for me to put him in a position where I’m expecting something that he’s not,” she stated.
As for whether there was any truth to rumors about Stacey and Chris getting close, she said, “Oh yeah.”
Later, on the WWHL: After Show, Monique was asked for her thoughts about Charrisse Jackson-Jordan, 60, calling Chris at Gizelle’s event amid their drama with Stacey, and questioned about which party she believed.
“I just thought it was interesting cuz it’s like, since when is he friends with all of these people that we removed from our lives years ago? So it was just, all of it was just very confusing,” she admitted. “And I was like, literally learning that information firsthand.”
“Honestly, I don’t believe any of them,” she continued. “I don’t believe that Chris didn’t know anything about it because he’s the type that will put information out and hide his hand, so the conversation could’ve very well happened. He could’ve protected Stacey in that moment, and he just threw Cookie under the bus. He made her look like a complete fool.”
The Real Housewives of Potomac season 10 airs Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo.
