Scheana Shay doesn’t want her daughter, four-year-old Summer Moon, to know that she and Lala Kent are no longer friends.
As she also offered an update on her friendship with Brittany Cartwright, 36, after leaving her role on The Valley, the 40-year-old Vanderpump Rules alum said she refused to involve her and Lala’s kids in the drama as she explained why she wouldn’t meet Lala, 35, for playdates with her daughter, four-year-old Ocean Kent, and admitted to keeping in touch with Lala’s brother, Easton Burningham.
“They did ask for a play date recently. Summer asked me on a Thursday, and I was like, ‘Well, Ocean’s usually with her dad on Thursdays.’ So, I said, ‘Not today, but we’ll figure something out, and you’ll see her at school on Monday,’” Scheana recalled on the January 16 episode of Scheananigans, via Vanderpod Recaps on Instagram. “I will not involve my kid in the drama. She’s not going to know that we’re not friends anymore.”
While Scheana wants Summer and Ocean to maintain their friendship as much as they can, she pointed out that while they currently see each other every day at school, they could soon be at different schools.
“We’re applying to some of the same schools, [but] who knows who gets in where? It’s on the parents to keep the kids connected … if we want these kids to stay in touch, it’s like, that’s on us,” Scheana explained. “[And] I don’t know what’s going to happen with that friendship.”
As for why she’s unwilling to participate in playdates, Scheana revealed she was trying to be “better” about boundaries.
“With the Lala situation, we are cool and cordial at school. I saw her a few days ago. I said, ‘Hi, good morning.’ That’s pretty much it, surface-level conversation. But like, as far as the play dates go, I’m like, ‘Well, this is a boundary I’ve personally set with Lala.’ I’m not going to be getting together with her to keep the kids friends,” she stated.
That said, she is open to others facilitating time for the children and has stayed in touch with Easton.
“If Easton wants to bring Ocean over, or we want to go meet up at the park, absolutely. I still text Easton and talk to him, and check in with him. If [my husband Brock Davies] wants to [get together] with any of them, that’s on him. I’m never going to withhold the kids from seeing each other. But I have finally figured out what boundaries are, and I’m going to stick with that,” she declared.
Also on the podcast, Scheana offered an update on her friendship with Brittany, saying, “Thank God, Brittany and I, like, we’re great,” and making it clear that she hoped Summer would be able to maintain a friendship with Brittany and Jax Taylor‘s four-year-old son, Cruz Michael Cauchi.
The Valley season three is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime early this year.
