As her mom, Liann May, 50, also spoke out in her defense, and her exes, Dakota Mortensen, 33, and Tate Paul, 32, released a joint statement of their own, the 32-year-old Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star clapped back at the ongoing leaking of private information while hitting back at claims of poor parenting.
“Last night I studied that long suffering trains us to eventually thrive in it, and it’s safe to say I’m starting to understand exactly what that means,” Taylor wrote in the caption of her July 18 clip.
Then, in her video, she began, “If I have learned anything in 2026, false headlines, there’s a lot of false information out there, and so, therefore, it doesn’t affect me because it’s not true. That being said, there are some things that are true.”
According to Taylor, she doesn’t need to read the headlines because she’s “lived it.” However, she does believe the leaks are a “serious matter.”
“Everything that’s been leaked is a very serious matter. It’s very private, so they are taking it seriously and looking into it … and that will be handled in the courtroom, not here,” she warned, adding that she tried to have her custody documents sealed but was denied.
Taylor then said that she has made progress in court amid her custody battles with Dakota and Tate, noting that she was recently given more time with her son.
Speaking of the suggestion that she wasn’t taking therapy seriously, Taylor insisted her mental health was a priority, and she noted that the therapist in question had made her feel uncomfortable and wasn’t a fit. She also addressed her alleged outburst.
“I was emotional, and I was like, ‘Let me take a step outside.’ And so I went to go take a breather, which I think would be the correct thing to do to deescalate emotions,” she explained of the moment in question.
Regarding the claim that she made her daughter Indy, 8, whom she shares with Tate (they also share son Ocean, 6), change the diapers of her son Ever, 2, whose father is Dakota, Taylor said she’d never once “forced or made my daughter change diapers.”
“If she ever wanted to, I let her. She likes to help. She’s in that phase of, like, mommy’s helper, wanting to do the diaper bags, changing. If that is bad on me, so be it,” she stated.
“I don’t claim to be this ‘mother of the year,” she added, “[but] I can confidently say that if you were to put any of my children up on a stand, they are choosing mom and mom’s house every time … I love my children. They know that I love them.”

As for Taylor’s mom, Liann, she spoke out on July 19 after Utah’s Division of Child and Family Services (CFS) requested a court determine whether Taylor’s three children were “abused, neglected or dependent.”
“The accusations of child neglect and abuse being leveled against my daughter are not only entirely false, but are also completely absurd,” she said in a statement to Us Weekly on July 19. “My grandkids live in a safe, loving and stable home provided with every amenity. They are well-fed, clothed, bathed regularly, and frequently enjoy trips to recreational activities. Furthermore, they are supported by a full-time nanny and a loving supporting family. My grandchildren are exceptionally well taken care of and are not being abused or neglected in any way by their mother. They’re quite spoiled to say the least.”
“These allegations have spiraled out of control, and I believe my daughter is being unfairly targeted due to her public profile. This harassment is discriminatory, unlawful and deeply unjust. While there are children truly in need of protection and public attention, resources and energy are being wasted on these baseless claims,” she continued. “I want to be very clear, if my grandchildren were being neglected or abused by anyone, I would be the first to act on it. I ask for privacy and for the spread of false narratives to please stop.”
Meanwhile, in their own statement, Dakota and Tate commented on DCFS’ investigation into Taylor’s parenting, as well as her public reaction to it.
“Tate Paul and Dakota Mortensen have remained publicly silent throughout these proceedings to avoid having serious private family matters turned into more of a public spectacle than they already have due to the insatiable appetite of others to share private family information online to promote views and publicity,” they said in a joint statement, via their counsel, to Us Weekly on July 17. “However, they are deeply concerned that Taylor’s statement minimizes the gravity of the action filed by DCFS and her many underlying actions that prompted such.”
“The petition filed by DCFS this week is not a routine transition to juvenile court or an opportunity for personal growth. DCFS has asked the Court to find that the children are abused and has requested an expedited hearing concerning their immediate protection,” they noted. “Tate and Dakota are grateful that DCFS has taken these concerns seriously and is stepping in to protect the children. They share the serious concern that the family court system, law enforcement, prosecutors, and child-welfare agencies need meaningful coordination necessary to understand the situation and act in a manner most likely to protect the children. Serious warning signs went largely unaddressed for far too long.”
The statement also shared that both Dakota and Tate “remain focused on protecting the children, giving them the time and space they need to heal, supporting meaningful accountability, and using what their families have experienced to help improve coordination between these systems in the future.”
“Despite the myriad false accusations published online and on social media about them by Taylor and others, Tate and Dakota have chosen to not participate in the often misconstrued social media and other online activity surrounding their cases,” the statement added. “They have remained silent to protect their children, not because they have nothing to say. When the time is right, they will tell their story in their own words in the appropriate forum.”
