Brittany Cartwright warned Nia Booko about the similarities she saw between her estranged husband, Jax Taylor, and Nia’s husband, Danny Booko, in an unseen moment from The Valley.
Amid part three of the season three reunion on Wednesday, it was revealed that Brittany, 37, had expressed her concerns to Nia, 36, at her Halloween finale party, where she suggested that Nia’s habit of always defending Danny, 42, regardless of his behavior and who it offended, reminded her of her past dynamic with Jax, 47.
“I’m not saying that you and Danny are anything like me and Jax,” Brittany said in the previously unseen clip, via Bravo’s The Daily Dish. “But I protected Jax for so long, and, like, it annoys me, I guess, whenever I see, like, a girl being like, ‘Oh, everything that he f*ckin’ does is fine. It’s fine. It’s fine.'”
Although Nia insisted she “never said that” about Danny, Brittany said at the reunion that was “what it seems like,” as she further claimed she was not “comparing Jax to Danny.”
“There’s no comparison towards that whatsoever. But I understand why Nia wants to, like, protect things and not share everything all the time. Like, I get that more as I’m watching how you’re being talked to and stuff,” she explained.
Regarding her castmate’s concern, Nia said, “I love my husband,” before admitting that there were times when “he does drink too much.”
“I don’t like those moments. But he is an amazing man, and I try to, like, be there for him,” she stated.
Nia also said that she protects Danny on The Valley because his on-screen moments weren’t indicative of their day-to-day life.
“We’ve been together for 13 years; I know him very well,” she noted. “While what everybody has seen seems so frequent, it’s such, like, a high-pressure-cooker situation while filming. Not that it’s an excuse whatsoever, but the day-to-day at home, we’re going out with friends, that’s not what it is.”
“If you think that that glimpse is what is my everyday … it’s not,” she added. “We have a really beautiful, special home bubble.”
Danny also spoke out about Brittany’s warning about his behavior.
“I did go into these things, like I said, [with] stress, anxiety heightened, and used alcohol to cope in those areas, which I should not have done, and which caused me to have too much to drink,” he explained. “These are bad moments that are rare.”
According to Danny, he’s been working with someone who’s helping him “figure out a better way how to handle that type of situation.”
As the unseen moment continued, Danny specifically addressed his drag pageant dispute with Nia in San Diego, where he faced criticism due to his tone and harshness with his wife, who was postpartum at the time.
“In a way, a lot of times this season, and when I was in those heightened states of not feeling like she had my back and feeling like, you know, she wasn’t defending me in a certain way… Looking back, yes, I said that was my stupid mindset,” he admitted.
