Doug Mason opened up about his time with Taylor Frankie Paul on The Bachelorette during a podcast appearance on Tuesday.
After winning the 32-year-old Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star’s unaired season of the long-running ABC dating show and becoming engaged for a short time, Doug, 29, admitted to thinking that Taylor had been unfaithful during their relationship, spoke of his feelings for her, and her feelings for Dakota Mortensen, 33, while also sharing the warning he received from her ex-husband, Tate Paul.
“I do think that Taylor cheated on me,” Doug declared on the October 13 episode of Bachelor Happy Hour.
According to Doug, he fell for Taylor as they filmed The Bachelorette. However, in the back of his mind, he could tell that she had lingering feelings for ex Dakota, whom she ultimately returned to after the series wrapped — despite their shockingly toxic relationship.
“I loved Taylor for who she was during the show, but there were multiple times during this experience on The Bachelorette where I had this feeling that Taylor was not over Dakota,” Doug explained.
Then, after being asked about his meeting with Tate, who shares two children with Taylor, including daughter Indy and son Ocean, Doug recalled his stern warning.
“When I met Tate, he asked me the same question that you asked me. ‘You ready for this? Cuz it’s a lot,’” he revealed.

Following the sharing of the podcast clip, both Taylor and Dakota, who share son Ever, weighed in.
“We became closer after all this. He’s a good soul when he opens up,” Taylor wrote.
Meanwhile, Dakota said he “had no idea they were ever engaged at that time. I found out much much later.”

As fans may have seen, Taylor admitted months ago to sleeping with Dakota “the day after” she and Doug got engaged.
A short time later, Doug spoke out on his Instagram Story, confirming that he had moved on.
“Let’s talk about The Bachelorette,” he began. “That experience has been looming in my life for some time, and although I’ve been moved on for a long time, I think it’s important that I express to you guys that I have.”
“I have officially moved on, and this is me saying that I am going that way, so I hope that everybody can understand that it was in my past and now focusing on my future,” he concluded.
