Mercedes “MJ” Javid and her estranged husband, Tommy Feight, have reached a deal for the custody and visitation of their six- year-old son, Shams.
Two months after the 53-year-old Shahs of Sunset alum filed for divorce after seven years of marriage and requested primary legal and physical custody of the child, she and Tommy, 53, attended a mediation session, during which they came to an agreement.
According to a December 19 report from Us Weekly, MJ and Tommy arrived at mediation last Thursday without an appointment. And while there, they submitted their agreement to a judge, who signed off on the deal that day.
As Shahs of Sunset fans may recall, MJ asked for primary legal and physical custody of Shams, with Tommy getting visitation with the child, in October, and he responded to that request by asking for legal and physical custody of Shams.
At the time of Tommy’s response, he insisted to the court that he was a good father.
“I am an involved and committed father to our son,” he wrote in a declaration. “I participate fully in his daily routine, including school drop-offs and pickups, bedtime, meals, activities and homework … I have a strong, loving relationship with him and he is comfortable, safe and happy in my care.”
“I believe it is in our son’s best interest to have frequent and continuing contact with both parents. I respectfully request joint legal and physical custody, and a parenting schedule that reflects the involved role I have always had in his life,” he added.
Meanwhile, in her own statement, MJ said, “I have been the parent primarily involved in the caregiving and overall needs of our minor son. I take our son to school and pick him up every day. I also organize and take our son to his play-dates, parties, doctor’s, and dentist’s appointments.”
“Likewise, I am responsible for his extracurricular activities and school activities with little to no involvement from [Tommy],” she continued. “My hours of employment are entirely within my control which allow me the flexibility to continue being primarily responsible for our son in this way.”
The Valley: Persian Style season one premieres on Thursday, January 8, at 9/8c on Bravo.
