Ciara Miller reacted to West Wilson‘s use of a beta blocker at the Summer House reunion on Threads after Tuesday’s conclusion of the three-part special aired.
After host Andy Cohen, 58, called West, 31, out for his lack of emotion, despite the intense feelings of his castmates, Ciara, 30, took to social media, where she shaded his “bullsh*t” excuse, explained what beta blockers actually do, and mentioned personality disorders.
“Just a medical note: beta blockers DON’T remove emotion. They work by blocking adrenaline from binding to beta receptors in your heart, blood vessels, and muscles (the receptors responsible for the physical symptoms of anxiety like increased heart rate, raised blood pressure, and trembling). The EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE remains, but the physical stress response can’t fully activate. It’s like putting your ‘fight or flight’ symptoms on DND…. enough with the beta blocker bullsh*t,” Ciara wrote on Threads on June 9.
Then, in a second post, Ciara signaled DSM-5, a classification of mental disorders, as she seemingly suggested that a personality disorder could be at play.
“Also anxiety and depression aren’t the only thing in the DSM-5, personality disorders exist there as well,” she added.
As Summer House fans saw, West was tight-lipped throughout the reunion as he and girlfriend Amanda Batula, 34, the estranged wife of Kyle Cooke, 43, and Ciara’s former friend, were faced with backlash and questions about their sordid romance, leading Andy to speak out.
“No offense, are you on, like, a bunch of beta blockers or what?” he asked West.
In response, West said he was “trying to stay composed as much as possible,” before admitting, “I took a beta blocker.”
“No offense, but I’m not sobbing in this moment. This matters to me, but this is my friend,” he added.
Summer House season 11 is expected to go into production sometime this summer.
