In the preview clip, Maci is seen saying goodbye to her three children as she prepares to leave them in the care of husband Taylor McKinney and head to the jungle of Nicaragua, where she will be dealt with the challenge of surviving for 14 days — all while in the nude.
“Are you going to survive with the babies?” Maci asks Taylor.
“This is my own survival show, too. It’s called ‘Three Kids and Afraid,'” he jokes.
“At least you’ll have a couch… and food,” she replies.
Maci’s episode is set to air on Sunday, June 24 at 9/8c on the Discovery channel.
According to Maci, she knows she’s in for a major challenge but she’s determined to stick it out in the jungle for her entire two-week stay.
“When I watch the show, one thing that drives me crazy is people quit way too early. Like, they don’t even give themselves a chance,” she said. “The first sign of distress, they tap out. They’re done… I mean, it’s going to suck for sure but I’m not going to quit.”
In March, after Maci’s appearance on Naked and Afraid was first reported, Farrah Abraham spoke to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup after the mother of three was called out for her supposed hypocrisy.
“The irony of this is hilarious,” Farrah said in a statement. “Hopefully she has fun on her pornographic show; [it] sounds tragic.”
As fans of Teen Mom OG well know, Maci threatened to quit the show after learning Farrah had been asked back — even after releasing a series of adult films with porn star James Deen. As she explained on the time, she didn’t want her family to be associated with a show that featured someone who had been seen in a sex tape.
Although Maci’s upcoming appearance is far from erotic, many of her fans and followers have lashed out at her for agreeing to be seen naked on national television.
“I like Maci but that’s a bit hypocritical,. Isn’t she worried that Bentley’s classmates will talk about his mom being on ‘that show where they’re naked’…?” one critic noted.
Naked and Afraid airs on Sunday nights at 10 p.m. on the Discovery Channel.
